Sep 6, 2011

Labor Day is now behind us, and with that, many of the Leagues are beginning to either have the kick off meetings or actually start league play.       The Monday nite No-Tap League will have their meeting on Tuesday, September 6th at 6:30 at Lincoln Lanes in the front. This league normally bowls in the annex.
Once again, if you have not bowled in a while or have never bowled on a league, there are league’s looking for your participation.  For example, the Wednesday morning dNa Karaoke league is looking for bowlers, as is the Happy Go Go Lucky Saturday nite mixed league. For the Happy Go Lucky League contact Ruth at 217-918-0745. For the dNa Karaoke League, contact Marjorie at 217-442-2521. I saw that the Winter League, which bowls on Tuesday afternoons is also looking for some ladies to bowl. You can contact Judy Moreman at 217-446-3156 for more info.
As I asked last week, are there any men’s leagues or even mixed leagues in the area that bowl in the mornings?  I have had 1 bowler ask about this, as he now works 2nd shift.  If you know of one, please drop me a note at the e-mail near the end of this column.
The Senior League had some good scores to report for their 3rd week of bowling. Jan Frank was 51 pins over her game avg. of 134, Larry Thomas was 75 pins over his game avg. of 155  Bob Beck was 67 pins over his game avg. of 178, and Darlene Edwards was 67 pins over her game avg. of 110.The league did have a few split conversions, such as Barb Smith picking up both the 5-10 and the 4-7-10;  Sandy West, the 3-10;  Bob Maxwell the 2-7 and Joe Stokes the 5-7-8. Phil Stultz converted the 5-7, Jack Taylor knocked out the 9-10, and your columnist snared the 4-6 split. Very lucky I guess.
How many of you tried out the new site I suggested last week?  Bowlersalley.org is the place for you. You can add and edit your scores, and even keep archived leagues from previous years on there as well, and you can share your scores with others.  If you are now using it, please let me know, and I will follow you as well.
Your bowling averages are now up on the bowl.com site for the Danville area men and women bowlers.  This comes in handy when registering for an upcoming tourney.
I want to hear from ALL area centers this year, not just Lincoln Lanes and Bulans.  Covington, Hoopeston, Cissna Park and Paxton, you are all included.  League secretaries; please send me reports each and every week. Your bowlers would love to see their name in print.
Please submit all reports before midnight on Sundays. If you need any more info, drop me a note at illianabowling@gmail.com.
Until next week, let’s have fun and knock ‘em down.
