Feb 15, 2011

It looks as if we can start going outside again. The temps are warming up, and the snow seems to be melting. Will we get yet more snow for our winter season? I, for one, hope not. Speaking of warming up……….
15 year old Parker Winland rolled a 654 series in the Lincoln Lanes Youth League, with game of 160, 219 and 275. His 275 game consisted of 9 strikes in a row. Way to go Parker! Thanks to the ladies at the front desk at Lincoln Lanes, Val, and Danielle for alerting me of Parker’s accomplishment. Also in a youth league, but at Bulan’s Bowl, west of Danville, 12 year old Trey Walters bowled an amazing game of 280, but, it was in practice, so, no official award, but anytime our youth can roll a game like that, they at least deserve an honorable mention.
Let’s start with the Sunday Nite Mixed League at Bulan’s. The following bowlers were at least 50 or more pins over their averages. Kevin High with a 178, Roger Moore with a 253,and Ricky Porter with a 234. Thanks Ashley.  Thanks to Linda, we also have a report from the Sunday nite Mixed at Lincoln Lanes. On Feb 5th  Karen rice was 63 over with a 171.  On Feb 13th, Georgia Seward picked up the 5-7, and Terrence Cloyd converted the 2-4-8-10.
Laura Baird reports that in the Tuesday morning Ladies League, at the Legion in Westville, Martha Hance, a 116 average bowler, rolled a 181., 65 pins over. Bowling action resumed Tuesday nite after last week’s snow cancellation, with the Tuesday Nite Go Getters reporting that Deb Miller, a 98 average bowler, rolled a game of 161, 63 pins over, 137, 39 pins over, and a 145, 45 pins over, ending up with 149 pins over her series average. Charlie Tiffin converted the 5-7-8 split, Steve Lamb and Tracy Smith picked up the 3-10, and Sherry Castonque snagged the 2-7. Thanks to Bill McDaniels for that report.
Moving over to the Men’s 332 League, Martha Elliott will always slip me a piece of paper with the results on them. This week we have quite a few, and I hope I have the right report. Mike Goode, a 156 average bowler, rolled a 236 game, 80 pins over, and he was 96 pins over his total series average, bowling a 564 total. Will Thornsbrough, a 158 average, rolled 56 pins over for a 214. Dante Baxter bowled 66 pins over his 137 average for a 203. Dalton Madsen rolled 69 pins over his series average.
At Lincoln Lanes with the Senior League on Thursday afternoons,  Joe Stokes sent me an e-mail, reporting that Bill Reynolds, was 53 over with a 181, and Bob Beck, 52 over with a 215,  Jim Thomas picked up the 5-7 split.  Meredith picked up the 4-10 split.  Also, Larry Thomas converted the 5-4 split, while Shirley Miller picked up the 3-9-10. Charlie Graul picked up, not once, but twice, the 4-5-10.
In the Monday Night Church No Tap League, Nancy tells us the following rolled at least 50 pins over their average:  Brad Wheeler-75,  Pam Jones-63, Joe Williams-63, Devin Heinrichs-111, Crystal Suchaczewski-60 and Keenan Jones-57.  J. R. Scruggs rolled a 702 series, and Sharon Craft a 644. Both Mike Jett and U. Pete Williams converted the 5-7 split.
Oh, I had an accident Thursday afternoon while bowling in the Senior League.  I must have tripped as I rolled a 237. Strange.  Hey, speaking of tripping, if you take a drink down to the bowling area, please make sure either the cap or cover for the drink is securely placed. If not, it can come loose, and possibly create a spill on the floor. A bowler could get liquid on the bottom of their shoes, and while on the approach, stick, and possibly fall and injure  themselves.
