Bowling Column for Sept 17, 2015

The 2015-2016 bowling season is underway, and we seem to be starting off with a bang.
Before we get into the high scores and good splits, let’s bring you up to date with some happenings on the local scene this past spring, as well as some happenings coming up in the next couple of months.
Tournaments are something many of us look forward to. This past April, the Senior Tournament was held on a weekend, Saturday being held at Bulan’s Bowl, and the finals being held on Sunday at Lincoln Lanes. The winner this year actually won the tournament in 2006. It has been told to me, this is the first time a bowler has won the tournament twice. Congrats go out to Jim Thomas, of the Thursday afternoon Senior League. The State Senior Tournament is in Freeport, Il this year, and the dates are Oct 31-Nov 1, Nov 7-8. and Nov 14-15. If you would like to be scheduled with other Danville area bowlers, contact Meredith Stokes on Thursday afternoons during the Senior League competition.
Most of you know by now, the Danville Women’s Bowling Association, and the Danville Men’s Association has merged making it one unity. USBC cards now cost the same for each gender, at $19.  One big advantage, is our youth bowlers will now be sanctioned right here in Danville, instead of Champaign.  Keep tuned to this column for upcoming tournaments through out the year.
Let’s get into this past week’s scores.  The Tuesday Nite Go Getters started off like fire works.  Since it was the leagues first night of bowling in the new season their average from last year were used to calculate their high games for this report.

Dustin Dolbee was close behind with a 246, with games of 240, and 213.  Other bowlers, 50 or more pins over average were Houston Key with a 219, 64 pins over. Jordyn Castle, Chris Brookins, and Stan Harvey were all over by 57 pins. Their games were 185, 205, and 239 in the order listed.
Split pickups included, Harlie Huckleby with the 6-7-10, Sue Strong with the 5-10, and Jordyn Castle with the 7-9.
In the Senior League, it was the Ladies’ afternoon to take charge.       Splits for the week were   Sue Strong & Laura Baird, the 5-6, Joe Stokes, the 3-6-7-10, and Jim Thomas, 8-9.
MS Nails reports that Donna Rayhel shot a 544 series where her third game was 200.
Ann Minnette also rolled a 200.
Would love to see even more reports from leagues, so need to hear from the league secretaries, from Bulans, Lincoln Lanes, Covington, and Hoopeston.  Please drop me an e-mail to illianabowling@gmail.com for the info I would like, or you can connect to my facebook page, and leave me a message.
