Fast Lanes is taking reservations for it's New Years 4 game 7-8-9 tournament where you can throw out one game. Two person teams and $50.00 per team. Starting time is 6:30. Call Fast Lanes 283-6505 to reserve your spot.
From Lincoln Lanes: I just want to clarify that all of our tournaments implement the 10 pin rule, meaning if your average is 10 pins higher than your last year's average you must take this year's average. The rules state if you do not let the tournament directors know your average is 10 pins higher and it is discovered then your whole team will have to forfeit. We didn't want to ever see this happen but unfortunately it did. Unfortunately we can not make exceptions as the rule is clear. So people, please for your team's sake, make sure you are aware of your average and notify directors if you need to use this year's average.
Attention all tournament bowlers. Remember, it is a USBC rule that if you average increases by more than 10 pins from your previous year’s average, you must report that to the tournament director. If you do not, you could be disqualified.
Attention all tournament directors, please let me know what your results are in each tourney or special bowling event, so we can give credit, where credit is due.  Just post it on Facebook and tag me to draw my attention to it. We want to give all bowlers their due recognition.

Oct 15th, 2015 - Did I just foul...or not?

What is a foul? Most of you know, but in case some one is a bit curious, that’s when your foot crosses the foul line you are bowling on, or crosses the foul line on the alley adjacent to yours.  Also, if your foot or hand touches anything on the other side of the foul line.  Take example, if you touch the wall at Lincoln lanes next to lane 20.  If you touch the wall on the other side of the foul line, it is a foul, but if you touch the wall next to the approach, it is NOT a foul.  If you touch the poles located between 10 & 11, it is a foul. Think of an imaginary line going from the foul line up the walls on either side of the bowling center.  That should give you a clearer picture.
In Go Getter action, Susan Brookins was 45 over with a 143, while Kaitlyn Hankey shot 72 over for a 238. John Mikel rolled 56 over for a 211. Harl Miller topped his average by 42 by scoring a 168.      Converting their spares were Aaron Williams, Michael Seward, and Meredith Stokes with the 5-7. Georgia Seward knocked out the 2-7-8, Fred Fultz, the 6-7-10, and Billy McDaniel, the 5-6-10.

Oct 8th, 2015 - be Careful with the Equipment

I try to walk in while various leagues are bowling, and have seen some disturbing things. I know people get angry and frustrated, but please, do not kick the ball return or hit the walls. That costs money for the bowling centers to repair, and who gets the bill. Most likely the leagues in raised prices.  Think about it.
In Go Getter action, Michael Seward had the highest game with a 232. Other scores above average were Margaret Birge 43 over, with a 199, and a series of 571, 103 pins above series.      In recent MS Nail Salon action, Sandy Stewart bowled a 203, Sally Reed shot a 196, Sue Strong bowled a 204, Sue Broderick picked up a 5-6-10, and Ilse Durbin picked up the 3-9-10. Betty Rowley rolled a 196 and Donna Rayhel shot a 220 and had a 542 series.
Fast Lanes in Hoopeston  is having a 7-8-9 pin doubles tournament this Saturday starting at 7:00 with the 1st place prize of $550.00. Also there is a DJ for your entertainment.
The scores last week were way up as Chad Bruens led the way with a 290 leaving a stingy 10 pin in the first frame then bowling 11 in a row to go along with scores of 170 and 245, for a 705 series. Following closely was Curt Page with a 287 and 681 series in the Thursday night men’s league. Ferdinand Construction led the way with a 2481 scratch 4 man series.
Sunday night was led by Doug Wagoner with a 259 game and 691 series followed by BJ Morgeson's 246 and 646 series. Patty Lowe led the ladies with a 209- 597 series.

Calling all tournament directors. Want your tourney advertised? If that’s the case, just drop me a note, and we will try and get your info out there. It would be best if you got your info to me 3 or 4 weeks in advance of that event.  When the tourney is over, don’t forget to send the results.
To all League Secretaries.  Think about giving your bowlers the recognition they deserve. Think of all the high games, and series they are rolling? Bowlers, have you shot a good series or high game. Not here?  Encourage your league secretary to submit reports on your behalf.
That’s it for this week. Thanks to all who submitted info for this week’s column. Remember, you can get all the columns by checking out Tuck’s Bowling for Fun blog at: http://tucksbowlingforfun.blogspot.com

Bowling Column for Sept 17, 2015

The 2015-2016 bowling season is underway, and we seem to be starting off with a bang.
Before we get into the high scores and good splits, let’s bring you up to date with some happenings on the local scene this past spring, as well as some happenings coming up in the next couple of months.
Tournaments are something many of us look forward to. This past April, the Senior Tournament was held on a weekend, Saturday being held at Bulan’s Bowl, and the finals being held on Sunday at Lincoln Lanes. The winner this year actually won the tournament in 2006. It has been told to me, this is the first time a bowler has won the tournament twice. Congrats go out to Jim Thomas, of the Thursday afternoon Senior League. The State Senior Tournament is in Freeport, Il this year, and the dates are Oct 31-Nov 1, Nov 7-8. and Nov 14-15. If you would like to be scheduled with other Danville area bowlers, contact Meredith Stokes on Thursday afternoons during the Senior League competition.
Most of you know by now, the Danville Women’s Bowling Association, and the Danville Men’s Association has merged making it one unity. USBC cards now cost the same for each gender, at $19.  One big advantage, is our youth bowlers will now be sanctioned right here in Danville, instead of Champaign.  Keep tuned to this column for upcoming tournaments through out the year.
Let’s get into this past week’s scores.  The Tuesday Nite Go Getters started off like fire works.  Since it was the leagues first night of bowling in the new season their average from last year were used to calculate their high games for this report.
Jim Miller was high bowler for the week with a 689 series, with games of 242, 236, and 211. Dustin Dolbee was close behind with a 246, with games of 240, and 213.  Other bowlers, 50 or more pins over average were Houston Key with a 219, 64 pins over. Jordyn Castle, Chris Brookins, and Stan Harvey were all over by 57 pins. Their games were 185, 205, and 239 in the order listed.
Split pickups included, Harlie Huckleby with the 6-7-10, Sue Strong with the 5-10, and Jordyn Castle with the 7-9.
In the Senior League, it was the Ladies’ afternoon to take charge. Donna Berlin bowled 51 pins over her game average. with a 168.  Judy Arnett bowled 50 pins over her average. with a 177.  Pam Jeffers shot 55 pins over her game average. with a 168,  Charlotte Gouty rolled 56 pins over her game average. with a 149, and Barb Walls shot 52 pins over with a 200.
Splits for the week were   Sue Strong & Laura Baird, the 5-6, Joe Stokes, the 3-6-7-10, and Jim Thomas, 8-9.
MS Nails reports that Donna Rayhel shot a 544 series where her third game was 200.
Ann Minnette also rolled a 200.
Would love to see even more reports from leagues, so need to hear from the league secretaries, from Bulans, Lincoln Lanes, Covington, and Hoopeston.  Please drop me an e-mail to illianabowling@gmail.com for the info I would like, or you can connect to my facebook page, and leave me a message.

That’s it for this week. Thanks to all who did submit info for this week’s column. Remember, You can get all the columns by checking out Tuck’s Bowling for Fun blog at: http://tucksbowlingforfun.blogspot.com
