      It was a great day for some Senior League bowlers when Ron Blagg shot 74 pins over for a 247 and 61 over for a 234. He also shot 176 pins over his series average. Jack Ball was 52 over for a 197. Marvin Brandon had 55 over with a 227 game. Houston Key shot a 209 game, 57 pins over.
     Split conversions included Betty Lierman with both the 5-7, and the 5-8-10. Greg Miller knocked out the 3-10, Brandon the 5-10, Fred Fultz, the 5-6 and Donna Berlin, the 5-7.
       The Tuesday Nite Go Getters Steve Lamb was 111 pins over his series average, which included a 243 game, 87 pins over. Deb Miller, 40 over with a 145, Don Miller, 55 over with a 231. Jim Thomas shot 123 pins over his series average for a 585. He rolled games of 211 and 204. Dot Tiffin shot 50 over for a 165, while Josh Wakeland, 55 over with a 196.
    Split conversions were Martha Elliott with the 4-5-7, Fed Fultz, with the 5-10, Bub Tiffin, the 5-7, and Susan Brookins, with the2-3-5-10.
     In Covington’s Friday Night Mixed League, Travis Edwards bowled a 245-233, and 212, for a 690 series. Darrell Edwards rolled a 230, 54 over and, Beth Brannin shot a 194, 81 over while Alen Arnold was 61 over for a 250. John Gebhart picked up the 6-7-8-10 split.
    Fast Lanes in Hoopeston On Saturday night it's a 9 pin doubles tournament. Get your partner and come try them out. Back Paiges, 50-60 & 70's music will be playing from 8:30-12:30.
The Thursday Night Men’s League, Chad Bruens having a high game of 269, and a series total of 715. Dusty Fields had a 267 game while Randy Hiltz shot a 662 series. The Wednesday ladies were led by Kellie Thilmoney’s 223 and Patty Lowes with a 215. Sunday night was led by Doug Wagoner's 279 game and 710 series, while and Karen Porths rolled a 217. The youth league is coming with some high games this week as Devon Thomas had a 211 and Mercy Linder a 215.
    The Monday Night Mixed League at Bulans had some great scores turned ion this past week, thanks to Linda Chittick. Scores were as follows: Judy Foley 56 over for a 155, while Tyler West was 79 over for a 267 game. Also with a 267 was Evan Davis, 87 over. Rolling a 247, 83 over, was Brandon Gore. Linda Chittick had a 204 game, 78 pins over, while Luke Humblett, rolled a 257 game, 81 over pin average. Steve Cravens was 89 over with a 254, Cindy Holycross, 60 over with a 162, while Ryan Gettinger was knocking out a 553 series, 154 over his series average. Split pickups were Linda Chittick with the 4-7-10, Matt Peaslee, the 6-7-10, and Sandi Burke, with the4-7-10.
     In the MS Nail League, Sandy West earned her 150 Game award,, while Diana Myers earned her 175 game award. Sara Switzer picked up the 5-10 split.
      From Westville’s Monday Morning Ladies League, Judy <aruage picked up both the 2-7-8, and the 5-6.
   Finally, in the Lutheran League, week 12, Rob Harper was 73 over for a 258, and Stan Harvey was 40 above for a 213. Steve Skimehorn was 77 over for 268, Don Miller, a 253, 60 over, while Michael Seward was 50 over for a 192. Cal Richards shot 73 over for a 247, as Bruce Smith rolled a 235, 46 over.

     The Senior League was a bit slow this week, so to speak as the only high bowlers reported were Raymond Berlin who shot 75 pins over with a 212, and Ida Petty, 78 over for a 198. Oh, so close to that 200, Ida.
    Split conversions included: Ida Petty 4-7-10, Margo Johnson 5-8-10, and Pam Jeffers, the 5-7. Bob Coburn, the 5-10, Michael Seward, the 3-9-10 and Jim Thomas, the 2-7-8.
   Jim Miller was the high roller for the night for the Tuesday Nite Go Getters as he rolled a 747 series with games of 257, 244, and 266.  Charlie Tiffin’s first night back on the Go Getter league since last season seemed rewarding for him as he rolled a 601 series, including a 224. Steve Lamb shot a 229, 81 pins over, and helped him get 144 pins over his series average. Sue Camarata was 47 pins over for a 149, while husband Mike was 47 over for a 168. Harlie Huckleby rolled 42 over for a 174, while Susan Brookins seems to be on a roll, as she was 41 over for a 153. Mike Swider was 41 over for a 164, Dick Lamb and Sue Strong with both 40 over for a 169, and 191 respectively.
   Split pickups included Laura Baird with the 4-5, Dick Lamb, the 5-10, and Harlie Huckleby with the 5-10.
     Covington’s Friday Night Mixed League has Alen Arnold with a 266 (80 pins over), and a 204 and a 227 for a 697 series. He has a 184 average . Kevin Barnes shot games of 210-224-277(78 over for a 711. Taylor Barnes rolled a 194, 64 over, while Edie Bray also shot a 194, but 61 over. Katrina Edwards shot a 655 with games of 229-179-247, Jim Hensley bowled a 228, 70 over average.
    Fast Lanes in Hoopeston The Sunday night mixed league was on FIRE this week. It was topped off by Jeremy Lane bowling his personal best 791 series with games of 268-269-254. That was followed by Doug Wagoner, 766 with games of 267-242-257 and  then Geoffery Berlin threw in a 277- 673 series. To top that off Helen Taflinger fired a 182 games to go with her 141 average.  The Will Bruen’s men on Thursday saw Tony Gress bowling a 718 series with a 266 game.
Fast Lanes will be having a doubles 7-8-9 pin tournament starting at 7:00 on WEDNESDAY NIGHT before THANKSGIVING then on SATURDAY NIGHT November 28 there will be a 9 pin tournament. Grab you a partner and test your skills. Start time is 7:00.
    The last contingent of Seniors bowled in the State Senior Tournament in Freeport, Il this past weekend, so they are just waiting for the final tally.
     Please remember, if you are hosting a local tourney, please let me know a couple of weeks in advance, and then send me the final results right after the tourney ends, so I can publish the results in the paper.

Nov 12th, 2014.....Some great scores recorded.

     Last Friday’s King of the Hill results, 1st place, Terrence Cloyd, and 2nd place, Joe Rich. 
     Let’s start out with the Lutheran League this week, John Pendleton was 62 over for a 218, and Heather Davis shot 75 over for a 206. Jason Woodworth rolled a 774 series, including a 274, of which was 47 over average. Rolling a 697 series was Bryce Spikar, with games of 269 and 248. Parker Winland rolled 71 pins over for a 210. Devin Varner topped out with a 258, while Jimmy White was 52 over for a 199.  Darren Lamm shot two 256 games, both of which were 49 over, and helped to compose a 710 series. Dillon Turner shot 46 over for a 258 game, and a 688 series, while Chris Candido rolled a 692 series, and that included a 280 game, 65 over. Stan Harvey knocked out a 220 game, 47 over, and not to be left out of all the fun, was Eric Crockett, who shot 97 pins over average with a 280.
    Don’t let the bowlers in the Senior League fool you. Some of them can down right bowl.  Jack Ball led the group this week, 71 pins above for a 214. He also rolled 102 pins above his series average for a 531.  Dot McDaniel of the Hit and Miss team rolled 56 pins above for a 169, while Ed Reed shot a 233, 54 pins above.
    Split conversions included Teddy Carter with the 5-10, Jack Taylor, the 4-5-7, Greg Miller, the 4-5, and Keith Carter, the 4-9. Stan Harvey, John Ramsey, and Terry Bell, Jr., all picked up the 5-7, while Georgia Seward, knocked out the 4-7-9. Barb Smith instructed other bowlers on how to pick up their splits, when she demonstrated how easy it was to pick up, not only the 3-5-7, but also the 4-5, and the 6-7-10.
   The Tuesday Nite Go Getters roll on with some great scores as well. Ron Blagg had 40 over for a 228, while Charlotte Gouty was 76 over for a 179. Houston Key, shot 44 over for a 210, as Julie Lomax rolled 54 over for a 121. Don Miller was not only 40 pins over for a 208, but also 107 pins above for a 608 series.  Jim Miller shot a 660 series, and Russ Puzey was 44 over for a 187. Ray Rogers had 2 great games, a 233, 45 over, and a 242, 54 over. Jim Thomas finished up with a 201, 48 over.
  Those picking up splits this week were numerous, and included Harlie Huckleby with the 4-10, and the 4-5. Houston Key knocked out the 5-8-10, while Martha Elliott hit the 2-7-8. Chris Brookins hit the 5-7, Fred Fultz, the 5-7-9. Kaitlyn Hankey rolled, and knocked out 3-9-10, Michael Seward, the 3-9-10, and Georgia Seward, the 5-7. Ray Rogers imploded the 3-6-7-10.
     Covington’s Friday Night Mixed League reports Larry Anderson rolled 62 above for a 220. Jessica Barnes shot 69 over for a 200. Shooting 672, was Ron Cates, with games of 234, 268, and 170. Ted Pearman topped out with a 245, 89 over, while Steve Russell was 95 over, with a 232.  The following bowlers knocked out the following splits:  The 4-9 Dale Benedict, the 3-6-7 Beth Barnes, , and Rose Schaeffhold, the 4-6-7.
    The MS Nail salon League reports that Geneva Edwards earned her 150 award by bowling a 151. Dorothy Hesler picked up a 3-8-10 split.
    Fast Lanes in Hoopeston has 3 tourneys coming up this month. A 7-8-9 pin no tap this Saturday at 7 and then on November 25 they are having a DOUBLES NO TAP, at $25.00 per person. Saturday, Nov 27 is a 9 pin doubles tournament.
   League Secretaries, I encourage you to get the scores each week to me, so I can include them in this column, and here is an easy way to do that. For those of you who are using the BLS program, there is a report called Reprint of Scores.  If you print that out, saving it as a pdf file, and then send it to me, I can go thru, and glean all the scores, so I can include those scores in my weekly report.

Nov 5th, 2015 Cloyd knocks out 300.

    Calm, cool, and collected was the demeanor of Terrence Cloyd last Friday evening at Lincoln Lanes, when he rolled a 300 game in the Friday Night Mixed League. Cloyd was also on his mark the night before in the Lutheran League, where he shot 48 pins over for a 278, and 49 over for a 279 for a 796 series.
      Congratulations to the following for placing in the 4 man tourney this past weekend this past weekend: 1st:  Cliff Dupree, Steve Skimehorn, Lexus Skimehorn and Shawn Peterson. 2nd: Jarvis Brown, Terrence Cloyd, Wayne Brown and Bryce Spickard. 3rd: Tyler West, Joshua Troxtell, Terry Lutz and Ruben Villarreal. 4th: Brandon Hamilton, Nick Lutz, Jordan Lutz and Steve Romero. 5th: Jim Dokey, Nicole Brown, Jackie Varner and Scott Reinken.
     Fast Lanes this week saw some great scores starting with the Monday night Ladies. Debbie Jones fired a 192 with her 144 average, Wednesday saw Kellie Thilmony with a 198 . Thursday Men’s was led by Tony Gress’ 258 and Brandon Hamilton’s 669, followed by Bob Hamilton’s 663. Sunday Night Mixed was Karen Porth’s 199 and Jessica Dobkins had a 192 with a 147 average, Doug Wagoner shot a 279 and 695 series.
     Fast Lanes 7-8-9- pin doubles tournament is November 14 starting at 7 with 1st place paying $730.00. Then on Wednesday November 25 there is a 7-8-9 pin with a DJ and then on Saturday November 28 a doubles 9 pin tournament at 7:00. These are open to anyone.     
     I can tell you that many bowlers were having trouble with their shots on both the Senior League, and the Go Getters.  In the Senior League, only Harlie Huckleby shot 50 or more pins above his average with a 189.  In the split department, I guess the 4-5 combo is getting really easy to pick up. Just ask Dot McDaniel, Ed Reed, Jack Ball, and Essie Syass. Ron Candido knocked out the 5-7, Donna Berlin the 5-10, and Gary Holycross with the 3-6-7-10.
     The Tuesday Nite Go Getters’ Susan Brookins was the high bowler for the week with 55 pins over for a 163. Laura Baird, 40 over with a 172., Jan Frank, 52, for a 178, Greg Miller, and Kay Tiffin were both 44 over. Miller with a 222, and Tiffin with a 122.  Split conversions included Mac McDaniel with the 4-5-7, and Jim Miller, and Kaitlyn Hankey with the 5-7.
     The Friday Night Mixed League in Covington had  Kevin Brannin shooting a 278, 124 pins over! He also had a 163 and a 141 for a 582 series. Kevin Barnes rolled a 266, 72 over also 213 and 152 for a 631 series. Judy Gebhart picked up the 4-7-10 and Dale Benedict, the 3-7.
     Now, the 1st report of the season for the Lutheran League, which bowls Thursday evenings at Lincoln Lanes. Bryan Lawson shot a 265, which was included in a 676 series. Ora Dumas 53 over for a 175. Gabe Garza rolled 61 over for a 230, and74 over for a 243, while Bruce Smith topped his average by 51 pins for a 238.  Chris Candido had a 267, 51 over. Jason Woodworth shot 42 over for a 267, while Misty Moore rolled 67 over for a 203.  Jared Reed, 41 over for a 254, and a 676 series, and Ruben Villereal 67 over for a 278, and a 736 series. Stan Harvey was 49 over with a 220, Jim Thomas, 66 over with a 241, and Shawn Peterson with 54 over for a 245. Bud Taylor shot a 299, and a 697 series.
    In the MS Nail Salon league, they are reporting that Frances Miller-Hauf earned her 400 series Award.
