Dec 13, 2011

A doubles tourney was held this past Sunday at Lincoln Lanes, and the finalists were in 1st place, Scott Reinken & Mike McMasters; 2nd, Heather Snook & Evan Davis; 3rd, Derrick Hufford & Steven Jones;  4th, Ruben Villarreal & Jerrad Reed;  5th, David Jackson & Scott Kopacz; 6th, Jim Dokey & David Henderson.
Looking ahead to New Years Eve, there will be a 7-8-9 doubles bowling tournament at Fast Lanes in Hoopeston. This means the 1st game if you get 7 or more pins, it counts as a strike, 2nd game, 8 or more, and the 3rd game, 9 or more pins count as a strike. Very similar to no tap, but with a slight twist. Tournament is scheduled to start at 7pm.  The Warrick Ford Open is Saturday December 16th, 11 am at Lincoln Lanes Annex.
A report from Fast Lanes in Hoopeston lets us know that Porgy Anderson bowled a 299 on the Sunday Night Mixed League and ended up with a 689 series.

Rule of the week.
Rule 1 – USBC Certification
Leagues and tournaments must be organized and bowled in accordance with USBC Bylaws, rules and regulations. These events must be scheduled on lanes that currently are USBC certified and only USBC approved equipment may be used.
Rule 2 – The Game
2a. Definition
A game of American tenpins consists of ten (10) frames. A player delivers two balls in each of the first nine frames unless a strike is scored. In the 10th frame, a player delivers three balls if a strike or spare is scored. Every frame must be completed by each player bowling in regular order.
2b. How Scored
Except when a strike is scored, the number of pins knocked down by the player’s first delivery is to be marked next to the small square in the upper right-hand corner of that frame, and the number of pins knocked down by the player's second delivery is to be marked inside the small square. If none of the standing pins are knocked down by the second delivery in a frame, the score sheet shall be marked with a (-). The count for the two deliveries in the frame shall be recorded immediately.
Until next week, let’s have fun and knock ‘em down.
