Nov 30, 2010

Hey bowlers. Hope everyone had a great Thanksgiving and are now looking forward to the Christmas season. Column is a bit shorter this week, and that is because I had to change some of the criteria. At this point in time, in order to make the column, men, you will need to bowl over a 250, and/or roll higher than a 675 series. Women will need to bowl over a 225, and/or over a 625 series.  I will continue to recognize anyone who bowls 50 or more pins over their average and split pickups. No Tap leagues and youth leagues will be handled a bit differently. Some of you may not know, that your league can report High Series and game in each division directly to the Commercial News, and they will print that in the Scoreboard section. If you need a form as a guideline, drop me an e-mail.
Going downtown to Lincoln Lanes, the Men’s 332 League, Steve Skimehorn rolled a 245, 53 pins over his average. Dennis Farrell bowled 71 pins over his series average.  Creative Concrete & Design Mixed: Chris Candido  258/682 series  and Bill Morgan  Sr  rolled a 262 Mutual League: David T Winchester  279/710 series., Mike Miles  257, Kevin O'Brian  688 and Kyle Sirratt a 255 with a  738 series.
The Church No-Tap League on Mondays has understandable high scores and series. The following bowlers were 50 or more pins over their average: Yvonne Scruggs-50, John Glover-97, Eleanora Young-67, and Brad Wheeler-61. Odd split pickups  Mark Roberts-3,4,6,7 split. In the Senior League, Martha Elliott picked up the7-8, while Judy Gebhart, picked up not only the 5-7, but also the 4-5.

Rule of the week :
Once again, we are talking about fouling.  Most everyone knows that if you cross the foul line while rolling the ball down the lane it is a foul. However, it is NOT a foul if you do not release the ball. So, if you feel as if you are going to step over the line or fall…… take the ball with you, if it’s safe of course. Also, if foreign items, like pens, jewelry or coins fall on to the lane, it is NOT a foul.  If a player deliberately fouls to benefit his/her score they will be credited 0 pinfall for that delivery and not be allowed to bowl further in that frame.
We have started a Facebook page. The address is: http://www.facebook.com/pages/Bowling-For-Fun/136628026389524  or you could simply send me an e-mail, and I will send it to you, and you can simply copy and paste. I am also starting a web site so we can go into further detail about each league, including photos. When that happens, you may see me down at the lanes taking random photos.
If you are enjoying the column, or have any comments, drop us an e-mail. We would love to hear from you.
Until next week, let’s have fun and knock ‘em down.
