Mar 14, 2011

Spring is on approach, and I am sure many of us are welcoming it with open arms. Spring also means the ends is near for many of our winter leagues, but have no fear, as most of the area centers have summer leagues that will be starting up soon.
Our report from the Monday Nite Mixed League at Bulans has Rich McFarland rolling a 257. McFarland also got a 698 series, while Nick Grubb rolled a 679.
The Tuesday Nite Go-Getter’s Terry Moreman rolled a 201, which was 52 pins over their 149 average, and they also rolled 202, of course 53 pins over. Moreman also bowled a 586 series, which adds up to 135 pins over their series average. Tracy Smith rolled a 212, 68 pins over his average. Maggie Birge picked up the 2-4-10 split, while Gary Holycross picked up the 3-10 split, not once, but twice. Betty Lierman converted both the 3-10, and the 5-8-10. In the Men’s 332 League, Kevin West rolled games of 269, 224, and 249 for a total of a 742 series. West has a 214 average, so that adds up to 55 pins over average, and 100 pins over series average. Henry Stephens with a 179 average, rolled a 202, 205 and a 241, for a series of 648. That is 62 pins over his average and 111 pins over his series average. Team mate Jackie Williams, a 186 average bowler rolled games of 245, 194, and 210 for a series total of 649.  That puts Williams 59 pins over his game and 91 pins over his series average. Teddy Carter picked up the 6-8 split, while Greg Miller converted the 3-7-10 split. We cannot forget the Tuesday Morning Women’s League at the Legion in Westville, where Phyllis Rutan picked up the 3-5-10, and Martha Hargan snagged the 4-7-8.
Wednesday morning DnA Karaoke League, Geneva Edwards bowled a 191 game which is 74 pins over her average.
We have the following results from the Thursday afternoon Senior League, Jack Ball was 66 pins over his game avg. with a 212, Judy Arnett  was 51 pins over her game average with a 187 and Raymond Berlin was 51 pins over his game avg. with a 211.  Donna Berlin picked up the 6-7-10 split. Other split pickups were Lester Taylor, Dot McDaniel, Darlene Edwards and Bob Coburn, who all picked up the 3-10. Fred Fultz picked up the 5-7. Barb Smith snagged the 2-7-10, while Jan Frank converted the 4-7-9-10.
Finishing up with the Monday Night Church No Tap League, Robbie Ketcherside was just short of a perfect game with a 298 and ended up with a 739 series. Terry Jones had a 278 game and a 682 series. Both Brooke Roberts and Karen Hoskins rolled a 251 game, and Sue Strong rolled a 250, with a 708 series. Mark Roberts had a 678 series, while Jimmy Scruggs topped out at 676. The following bowlers were 50 or more pins over their respective averages: Ketcherside-95, Jones-77, Scruggs-55, Hoskins-81, Brooke Roberts-77, and Ella Ellis-60. Larry Craft picked up the 6-7-10, while Joe Davis converted the 3-4-6-7-9-10 split.
We close on a sad note this week, longtime Danville area bowler, and Danville Area Bowling Association secretary for many years, Floyd Hardy, passed away on Tuesday March 7, 2011. Hardy will be missed by many. Thoughts and prayers go out to his family and friends.
Until next week, let’s have fun and knock ‘em down.
