Apr 5, 2011

Steve Skimehorn appears to be the top bowler of the week. A 191 average bowler, Skimehorn bowled games of 184, 225, and a whopping 279, for a series of 688. He was 88 pins over his game average and 115 over series.  When asked if he did anything different, his daughter Lexus piped in saying she was there to give him encouragement. Skimehorn bowls in the Tuesday Nite Men’s 332 League at Lincoln Lanes.  Other reports for the league consist of Jacky Williams rolling a 245, 173, and 218, for a 636 series. The 245 game gave him 58 pins over his average. Dennis Ferrell rolled a 245, 67 pins over his 178 average. Also bowling a 245, was Joe Cox, 57 pins over his 188 average. Joe Blagg picked up the 3-6-7-10, Cliff Oliver corralled the 4-5-7, and Noel Woods converted the 6-8-10.  We would also like to thank 2 individuals who rushed to the aid of another bowler who had become ill. Skimehorn, who is a nurse, and Danville Fire Fighter Shawn Pasley came to the aid of a fellow bowler and took vitals and made sure he was stabilized while an ambulance was enroute to the scene. The bowler was experiencing difficulty in breathing and was admitted to the hospital with pneumonia. He has been released and is now resting at home. Thanks guys.
In the Tuesday Nite Go-Getters, John Castle rolled a 246 game, which was 92 pins over his game average. Lisa Moudy topped 55 pins over her game average with a 197. Jon Castle and Mac McDaniel converted the 3-10 split, but McDaniel did it twice. Tony Dompe and Paula Beatty both snagged the 5-10. Gerald Arnett picked up the 2-5-7, while Dick Lamb knocked out the 5-7.
In the Thursday afternoon Senior League, Linda Engle bowled 52 pins over game average, and 115 pins over series average, with a 502 and 181.  John Gebhart was 59 pins over his game ave. with a 224. Judy Gebhart, Bill McDaniel, Jan Frank, Shirley Lamm and Linda Engle all picked up the 3-10. Lamm also picked up the 2-8-7. Larry Thomas picked up the 5-6-10, while Barb Smith lassoed the 4-5. Phil Stultz converted the 2-4-10.
In the Monday Nite Mixed League at Bulans, Rich McFarland rolled a 268 and had a 724 series. Kelly Richardson rolled 53 pins over her 145 average for a 198, and Tammie Brown knocked out a 176, 54 pins over her 122 average.
The Monday Night Church No Tap League is telling us that Albert Syass rolled 53 pins over his average, Mike Jett was 63 over, and Richard Morgan was 59 pins above, however, Pam Jones beat them all with 76 pins over her average.  Sue Strong picked up the 3-6-7-10 split.
The winter leagues are starting to wind down, and the spring/summer leagues will soon be starting up. If you are a secretary of one of the leagues bowling, drop me a line at bowlingforfun@comcast.net and I will let you in on how to get your league member’s names published in the paper. This of course includes ALL centers in the Illiana area. We want to hear from Lincoln Lanes, Bulans, Sycamore in Covington, and Fast Lanes in Hoopeston.
In conclusion, I would like to mention a good accomplishment in the Saturday morning Youth League at Lincoln Lanes. 11 year old Brady McMasters rolled a 494 series with games of 120, 174, and a 199. Keep it up Brady, way to go.
Until next week, let’s have fun and knock ‘em down.
