Hey folks, we’re back!! I do believe our 1st year back with the weekly column went well, and we hope to improve on that this year with YOUR help. If you are a center owner, a league secretary, a team captain or even a team player, we need your input.
Center owners, please make sure your league secretaries get a copy of this column. Team captains and even team players, please do the same. League secretaries; please submit your weekly reports to me at illianabowling@gmail.com. Here is what I would like from each league:
1. League name
2. For the men:
· Any scores over a 250, and any series over 675.
3. For the women:
· Any scores over 200, and any series over 625.
4. Names of any bowlers who bowl 50 or more pins over their average, or 100 or pins over their series average. Please include their actual score, and their averages. This category should get quite a few names in print.
5. Team captains, this is where you really can help. If one of your team members converts a really good split, let us know. For example, the 7-10, or big 4 are really good splits. A baby split, well, not so much. Also remember, if the head pin is standing, it is not a split.
A couple of weeks ago, I took a scenic drive up to Hoopeston, Cissna Park and Paxton, and dropped of some letters to the center to give out to the secretaries of each league. Other teams from centers like Lincoln Lanes, Bulans, and Sycamore Lanes in Covington have reported previously, but we would like to see everyone participate once again, and would love to see new leagues reporting each week. Secretaries, please remember that your team members would love to see their names in print, and with your help, they can.
Also, we will give notice of not only upcoming tournaments, but the results as well. For example, the State Senior Tournament will be held at Elgin Lanes in Elgin, Il and last year, we had quite a number of local bowlers finish in the money.
If you have not bowled in a while or have never bowled on a league, there are league’s looking for your participation. For example, the Wednesday morning dNa Karaoke league is looking for bowlers, as is the Happy Go Go Lucky Saturday nite mixed league. For the Happy Go Lucky League contact Ruth at 217-918-0745. For the dNa Karaoke League, contact Marjorie at 217-442-2521. Both these leagues are located at Lincoln Lanes. I do know the Senior League at Lincoln Lanes starts their bowling season this coming Thursday afternoon at 1pm.
Please submit all reports before midnight on Sundays.
