Feb 22, 2011

I wonder if the 1st President of the Unites States ever bowled?  Actually no, as the first standardized rules came about in New York City on September 9, 1895, long after he was gone. Happy Birthday Mr. President.
Let’s start with the Sunday Nite Mixed League at Bulan’s. The following bowlers were at least 50 or more pins over their averages. Ricky Porter , with a 213. He has an average of 163. A 177 average bowler, Greg Osborn rolled a 232. We also have a report from the Friday nite Mixed at Lincoln Lanes. The following bowlers all were over that 250 mark: Terrence Cloyd 259, Scott Reinken 256, and Chad Hoshauer 258. Let’s go back to Bulans for the Monday Nite Mixed report: Lynsey Jackson  (ave. 184) bowled a 226. Others that bowled 50 or more over their averages were: Carol Keller 53 pins over (181) w/ 128 average, Ann Young  51 pins over (212) w/161 average, Cindy Esworthy  51 pins over (204) w/153 average, Robin Smoot 64 pins over (257) w/ 193 average and Janis Thompson  58 pins over (223) w/165 average.
Had a lot of action on Tuesday. Chris Billow rolled a 57 pins over her average with a 176 in the Tuesday Morning Ladies League in Westville. At Lincoln Lanes on Tuesday nites, we have 2 teams that always reports their scores. The Go-Getters had a lot of action for a small league. Paula Beatty snagged the 5-10 while Dot McDaniel converted the 2-7, and the 5-6-10.  Other conversions were Dale Lierman, 4-10, Lisa Moudy, 5-7, Steve Lamb, 3-10, Bub Tiffin, 5-7-9,   and Terry Moreman, the 4-5. Had some great single and series score this week has well. Looks like Jon Castle gets top honors this week. A 153 average bowler and he rolls a 227 game, 74 pins over. Tracy Smith rolled 147 pins over his series average, and 58 pins over his 140 average. Gary Holycross 51 over with a 212, and Harl Miller 62 pins over with a 199.  Moving over to the Men’s 332 League, we inadvertently left out in last week’s report that Henry Stephens was 51 pins over his average with a 227, and 122 pins over his series average.  In the Wednesday DnA Karaoke League Cheryl Callison picked up the 6-7-10 split.
At Lincoln Lanes with the Senior League on Thursday afternoons,  Marion Johnson rolled 67 pins over avg. with a 188 game.  Split pick-ups turned in:  Bill McDaniel, 4,5,7;  Dot McDaniel, 3,9,10;  Jim Thomas, 5-10;  Meredith Stokes, 4-10, Jan Frank, 6-7;  Judy Gebhart snagged the 5-7-9, Greg Miller picked up the 4-9, and Margo Johnson picked up the 3-10.
In the Monday Night Church No Tap League, Corissa Miller rolled a 274, 129 pins over her average. The following also had 50 or more pins over their average:  Albert Syass-76, Kenny Smith-52, Jeff Lane-97, Brad Wheeler-63.
Oh, one last thing, if you are like me, getting a bit older, it is sometimes hard to see the monitors down at the lanes while reading the scores. You either have to squint, or get up and get closer to record the scores. That is no longer the case at Lincoln Lanes, where they have just finished installing new LARGE monitors that even I can see.
Until next week, let’s have fun and knock ‘em down.
