Dec 14, 2010

Snow again??? How many are ready for spring to arrive?  All together now, raise your right hand. You know, bowling is a great sport, that you do indoors, where it is nice and warm during the winters, and cool during the hot summers. Give it a try, you might like it.
I have to start with the Senior League this week, where Terry Koebrich not only bowled over his average, but he bowled well over his average.  88 pins to be exact, and he had to do this against our team. Terry’s average is  81. He had asked me before his last game if he should switch to a 14 pound ball.  I told him I did not think it would hurt. Well, he did, and it hurt us, when he bowled a 169. The whole place went up in applause.  Congrats Terry, great job.  John Ramsey, bowled 54 pins over his game avg. and 103 pins over his series total. Martha Elliott picked up the 3-9-10.
In other league action, down in Westville at the Legion, our friend  Madeline Sykes almost made 50 pins over her average, rolling a 142, 48 pins over. Phyllis Rutan was 50 pins over her 150 average, while Judy Mariage tallied a 181 game, 53 over. Martha Hargen snagged the 4-7-8 split. You can find these ladies in the Tuesday Morning Ladies league.  Same day, but at Lincoln Lanes, the The Tuesday Nite Go-Getters reports Deb Miller rolled 69 pins over her average with a 163and Bub Tiffin was 52 pins over with a 187. Gerald Arnett picked up the5-8-10 split, and Bill McDaniel rolled an All Spare Game. In the Sunday Night Mixed League, Chad Cox picked up the 3,6,7,10. In the Men’s 332, Joe Cox rolled 53 pins over his average with a 252. Going out to Bulan’s, the Monday Night Mixed League is reporting that Traci Atwood bowled a 242, 57 pins over their average. Speaking of Bulan’s, I had the pleasure of watching the youth league, this past Saturday, and watching some of our future adult bowlers. Very impressive.
Rule of the week :
    Did you know that…..
7b . Rebounding
Pins that rebound and stand on the lane must be counted as standing pins.
Have any of you had that happen?
Do you know who is in the Danville area Hall of Fame? Coming up in a future column, will be a listing of those bowlers.
Just a reminder,  if you have an amusing or even funny story about one of your bowling experiences, drop me a note, and tell it to me. It might make the column. It is sometimes funny to make fun of yourself, and give others a laugh.     If you are enjoying the column, or have any comments, drop us an e-mail. We would love to hear from you.
Until next week, let’s have fun and knock ‘em down.
