Happy New Year everyone.  Hope this is your best bowling year yet. To start off the new year, I have started a blog that contains all the bowling articles since it was started in the fall of 2010. Just type in http://tucksbowlingforfun.blogspot.com  and you will be there. Remember to bookmark it, so you will be able to find it easily. As I write this, it is cold outside, excuse me, but it is FREEZING, but what do we expect, it’s the start of January.  I think we were spoiled just a bit during the month of December.
We are awaiting the results from the New Year’s Eve no tap tourney held in Hoopeston. Hopefully, we will have those next week.
Speaking of tournaments, the Illinois State Senior Tourney concluded in Mid-November, and the results are in. 12 bowlers from Danville’s Senior League participated and 5 placed in the share of the winnings.  Everyone who placed, was in Class A. Joe Stokes placed 1st in All Events, 3rd place Men's Singles and with his wife Meredith’s assistance, placed 2nd in Mixed Doubles. Harvey and Shirley Miller finished in 3rd. Shirley Reynolds placed 8th in Women’s Singles.
The Warrick Ford Open is Sunday Jan 15 at 10:00, Illinois time at Sycamore Lanes in Covington. Great way to start the new year.
On Dec 28th, Darren Van Duyn rolled his 2nd 300 game of the season.
In the Tuesday Nite Go-Getters , Steve Lamb seems to have more on days than he does. This past Tuesday he bowled 65 pins over his average to total 219. Kevin Powell rolled a 190, which is 52 pins over average. Tracy Smith and Gary Holycross both converted the 3-10, as did Mac McDaniel, but he also picked up the 2-7. Harl Miller picked up the 5-7-9, while Chris Brookins snagged the 5-6-10. Greg Miller picked up the 5-10.
In The Senior League No one bowled more than 50 pins over their averages this week, but there were a few split pickups. Shirley Lamm picked up the 5-6, and 4-7-9. Larry Thomas and Jan Frank snagged the 5-7. Jim Thomas knocked out the 4-5-7 while Steve Newell had no problem with the 3-10.
Check these scores out from the Monday Nite Church No Tap league:  Robbie Ketcherside rolled 290 game, 83 pins over his 207 average, and with his other games, totaled out at 685. Terry Jones had a 790 series, which included a 279 game, 86 pins over average. Jeremy Randolph had a great 776 series, and Sharon Craft rolled a 662 series. Scott Cunningham, Kenny Smith, Mike Jett, Louise Cunningham and Leann Palmer all rolled more than 50 pins over their average. Scott Cunningham was 53 over with a 250, Louise Cunningham, 104 over for a 232. Smith had 63 over for a 234. Mike Jett, 52 over for a 229, and Palmer was 54 over with a 178. Kenny Smith was able to pick up the 6-7 split.
Rule of the week review:
Rule 4 – Delivering the Ball
4d. Special Considerations to Deliver the Ball
A player unable to execute a delivery in accordance with any of the foregoing procedures may bowl in USBC competition provided:
1. The league’s board of directors or tournament management authorizes such participation.
2. The league’s board of directors or tournament management establishes specific provisions to govern such participation.
The average established by the player is not acceptable in another league or tournament unless allowed by the rules of that league or tournament. The bowler is eligible for all USBC awards.
Until next week, let’s have fun and knock ‘em down.
