Tuesday, Jan 10, 2012

Hey, it’s Tuesday again, so you know what that means. Yep, the weekly bowling column for the Illiana area is here. We appreciate you being one of our loyal readers.
On Jan 3rd, David Henderson rolled a 300 game in Lincoln Lane’s Annex. He bowls in the Tuesday night league.
Had a doubles tourney at Lincoln Lanes on Sunday with the final results:  1st - Mike McMasters & Scott Reinken / 2nd - Jarvis Brown & Wayne Brown / 3rd - Raymond Kent & Steven Jones / 4th - Jolene Krout & Jason Turner / 5th - Tyler West & Derrick Hufford.
The Warrick Ford Open is Sunday Jan 15 at 10:00, Illinois time at Sycamore Lanes in Covington. Not too often that a tournament is held in Covington, so area bowlers might want to take advantage of this opportunity.
In  the DNA Karaoke League, Jennifer Ovall picked up the  3-10 split and the 5-10 split.
In the Tuesday Nite Go-Getters , Laura Baird rolled a 470 series which was 98 pins over her average. Melissa Castle rolled a 190 game, 64 pins over average, and remember Steve Lamb?  He bowled 57 pins over his average for a 211. Fred Fultz, and Paula Beatty both picked up the 3-10 split, while Tony Dompe converted the 6-8, as well as the 2-4-10.
In The Senior League Houston Keys recently joined the Senior League and had a slow start for the first couple of weeks, but he certainly came out of his slump this past Thursday by bowling 53 pins over his game average. However, Joe Blagg was the star this week, by rolling 94 pins over his 167 average for a final score of 264. Judy Arnett came in 54 pins over average.  The following splits were picked up: Clara Copsy and Judy Arnett 5-7, while Clara Copsy knocked out the 8-10 and the 5-6-10.  Judy Gebhart, Rose Newell, and Ruth Campbell, the 5-7.  Bob Beck corralled the 3-4-7-10 and Bob Maxwell the 2-4-7-9. Shirley Lamm picked up the 2-7-8, while Jim Thomas got the 4-6. Shirley Miller converted both the 5-9-10, and the 4-7-9.
Take a look at these scores from the Monday Nite Church No Tap league:  Jeremy Randolph was on a roll, to say the least. With scores of 277, 276 and a 273, he totaled out for an 826 series for the nite. Randolph may have had high score for the night, but Joe Davis had high game of 278, and a series of 734. Terry Jones had a 697, while Jimmy Scruggs had a 690. Sue Strong had a 679 series, as well as being 61 pins over her 205 average for a 266.  Davis was 67 pins over his 211 average for a 278 game, while Jones was 66 over 198 for a 264. Nancy Goodner topped her 168 average by 68 ins for a 228, and Miles Clark was over his 167 average by 52 pins for a final tally of 219. For split pickups this week, Steve Newell picked up the 5-10, and Davis converted the 4-9.
Most of you know that Lincoln Lanes had a fire recently. I am not sure of all the details, but if you have any knowledge of it, and it might be helpful to the police department, please do not hesitate to call.
Rule of the week review:
Fouls:
5b. Deliberate
When a player deliberately fouls to benefit by the calling of a foul, the player shall be credited with zero  pin fall for that delivery and not allowed further deliveries in that frame. If questions arise, Rule 10, Provisional Ball, should be followed.
Until next week, let’s have fun and knock ‘em down.
