Sportsmanship is needed in Bowling.....

As we all know, bowling is a sport. With that comes a bit of responsibility. It is called sportsmanship. Yes, I know, there are many times when we throw a bad shot, or think we should have gotten that strike, and we get frustrated. However, that does not mean we can kick the ball return, or even punch the wall.  Would you be violating a rule? Not that I can find, but by doing that, I would imagine not only would you be casting a bad image of the league and your team, it would also cast a bad image of yourself, and the sport itself. This is supposed to be fun. Yes, we can still be competitive, and have fun. Think about it.
We actually have a report from Sycamore Lanes in Covington this week. Ernie Harvey picked up the 4-10 in the Monday night Pioneer League.
In the DNA Karaoke League, Ann Minnette picked up the 5-10 split and bowled a 210 which is 59 pins over her average of 151. In the Tuesday Nite Go-Getters , Irvin Summers was complaining before the start of bowling that he had not been bowling well. Maybe he should complain a bit more. He rolled a 242 game, which was 103 pins over his game average, and by the end of the night he rolled 128 pins over his series norm with a 545 series. Deb Miller was 53 pins over average for a 164 game. Gerald Arnett and Fred Fultz picked up the 2-7, while Laura Baird converted the 5-6-10.
In The Senior League Houston Key was hot again with 71 pins over game average, and 136 pins over series average.  Ernie Harvey who was 53 pins over game average also picked up the 2-4-10 split. Stan Harvey, Judy Gebhart, and Bill McDaniel all picked up the 4-5-7.  Judy Gebhart, Sandy West and B. McDaniel all converted the 3-10. John Gebhart snagged the 2-7-8. Jan Frank showed everyone how to convert the 5-8-9 while Jack Taylor tapped out the 4-10 and Dot McDaniel broke apart the 5-10.
Take a look at these scores from the Monday Nite Church No Tap league:  Joe Davis rolled a 702 series and Jeremy Randoph a 684 which included a 277 game, 55 pins over his 222 average. Davis also picked up the 3-9-10 split. @00 average bowler Terry Jones rolled 62 pins over his average for a 262, while Shirley Perryman topped out at 69 pins over a 171 average for a 240. Juanita Wrightsman was also 69 pins over her 109 average for a 178. Team mate Rick Lomax rolled a 185, 66 pins over his 185 average. U Pete Williams scattered the pins quite a bit over the lane as he topped out at 230, which was 65 pins over his normal 165. Leean Palmer, a 126 bowler added 51 pins to her average for a 177. Lastly, for this report, Krystle Frazier rolled 67 pins over a 146 average for a 213. In the split department Larry Craft picked up the 5-7, while his wife Sharon was 1 better, with the 5-7-9. Brock Dieu snagged the 5-10.
Rule of the week review:
Fouls:
5c. Foul Detection
A USBC approved automatic foul detecting device must be used, if available. When not available or temporarily inoperative, the following procedures shall be used to call fouls:
1. In tournament play, management shall assign a foul judge or have the official scorers call fouls.
2. In league play, the opposing team captains shall call fouls or a foul judge shall be appointed. Failure to provide for the calling of fouls as specified shall disqualify scores bowled for USBC high score award consideration.
Until next week, let’s have fun and knock ‘em down. See you at the lanes.
