Special Meeting to be held and Winchester rolls 300 game

Welcome back.  Hope everyone had a great summer, and are eager and ready for the 2012/2013 bowling season.
Before we start our weekly bowling reports from the various leagues, we have an important meeting to announce, coming up on Wednesday, Sept, 19th at 6pm. The Danville Bowling Association will be having a meeting at Spanky’s, just east of the railroad tracks on E. Main St. The main purpose of this meeting is to allow the members of the association to voice their opinion and vote on whether or not they will raise the local association dues from $7 to $10 a year. Each year, if you are a member of the USBC, you have to either buy or renew your membership to bowl in any sanctioned league.  For the past several years, the total dues have been $17, $10 going to the national organization, and $7 to the local association. You, as a member, are encouraged to attend this meeting and voice your opinion, and cast your vote on whether your local dues should be raised by $1, $2, $3, or at all. We hope to see many of you there. Just a reminder, the Danville Bowling Association is for the men of the area. The women are covered by the WBC.
We are once again encouraging teams from the Illiana area bowling centers to submit bowling reports. Does not have to be the team secretary, it can be a designated representative. Basically what we are looking for is as follows:  Men, bowling scores over 250, series totals over 675. Women bowlers who roll games over 225, or series over 625.  Any bowler who rolls more than 50 pins over their averages, we want to know about. Also, any odd splits. “Baby splits” do not count. We do reserve the right to change the limits to fit into column space.
Very 1st report would have to be the 1st report we have had of a 300 game this year. Congrats go out to David T. Winchester.
The Senior League from Lincoln Lanes are usually one of the first groups to start up for the year, and one of the last to finish, by bowling 35 weeks out of the year. Recent results include Terry Bell rolling a 627 series with scores of 201, 180, and 246, Aug 23. The same day, John Ramsey started with a 212 game. On Aug 30th, Ed Reed rolled a 247, a 278, and a 204, for a 729 series. Stan Harvey rolled a high game of 236, while Bell racked up a 243. Bell was not finished yet, as on Sept 6th, he rolled a 659 with games of 258 and 225. Recent split conversions for Senior League bowlers were, Harley Huckleby, and Charlie Graul with the 5-10. Sue Strong knocked over the 4-5, while Billy McDaniel slapped out the 3-10.
The Tuesday nite Go Getters had their 1st session of the new year, and Charlie Tiffin was 58 pins over his last years average. The League did have quite a few split pickups. Among them were Dick Lamb, Dot McDaniel, and Tracy Smith who all picked up the 3-10. Lamb also picked up the 3-5-10. Kevin Powell and Irv Summers converted the 5-7. Chris Brookins was able to knock out the 5-10, while Rose Newell fought off the 2-7. Husband Steve, lassoed the 6-7. Converting the 6-7-10 was Gary Holycross.
Monday nite Mixed League at Bulans is reporting that Greg Miller rolled a 203, 53 pins over his 150 average. Laura Baird converted the 4-7-10 in the Tuesday Morning Ladies league at the Westville Legion.
