A 300 game is supposed to be a rare event. Although some local bowlers are making it seem common place lately. In the Duprey Construction League this past week, David T. Winchester rolled a 300 game, with other scores of 213 and 157, making for a total of 670. Darren Van Duyn totaled out for a 745 series.
On the Friday Night League at Lincoln Lanes, Scott Reinken not only bowled an 821 series, but also the coveted 300 game.
Remember the name of Rich McFarland? He made the column a few times last year, well, this is his week, or should I say, it was his week…last week. His granddaughter Nicole was born on Feb 16th. His 49th birthday was on the 17th, and he won the Warrick Open on the 18th at Bulan’s Bowl . During the tournament, he rolled his 1st career 800 series with an 805. His games included 258, 290, and 257. It is understood that he also won the Warrick Open in Covington’s Sycamore Lanes in January.
Some great action in the Tuesday Nite Go-Getters, as Gary Holycross rolled a 248, 76 pins over his average. Dot McDaniel was 58 pins over with a 169. Chris Brookins knocked out a score of 191, 54 pins over. Terry Moreman bowled a game of 203, 52 pins over his norm, while Jon Castle managed to get 51 pins over for a 208. Gerald Arnett split apart the 3-10, Moreman knocked out the 5-10, and Fred Fultz corralled the4-7. The Tuesday Morning Ladies league in Westville had both Wilma Pollman, and Nicole Waterman picking up the 3-10, and Sandy Taylor handled the 7-8. In the DNA Karaoke League, Jennifer Ovall smacked down the 3-10 split, Marilyn Ruffner knocked out the 2-7-8 split and Margie Parrish picked up the 4-5 split.
In the Senior League, Donna Berlin led the afternoon with 72 pins over her game average with a 209, and finished off 126 pins over her series total with a 537. Gerald Arnett also had a 209, 54 pins over average. Jack Taylor was 50 pins over average with a 202. Ed Reed and Bob Beck snagged the 2-7-8, Bob Coburn and Betty Lierman knocked out the 5-6-10. Clarence Martin split apart the 5-10, and Ruth Campbell knocked out both the 3-10, and the 2-10 splits. Ernie Harvey was able to pick off the 4-9, while Greg Miller knocked out the 3-9-10. Laura Baird showed everyone how to slam dunk the 4-5-7.
Once again, some great bowling in the Monday nite Church No-Tap league. Jimmy Scruggs rolls a 275 and a 695 series. Sharon Craft rolls a 255 and a 690 series. Shirley Perryman shot a 639 series. We had several other men that bowled over a 675 series, including J.R. Scruggs with a 776, Robbie Ketcherside, a 757. Joe Davis and Jeremy Randolph both topped out with a 693. Jimmy Scruggs’ game of 275, was 73 pins over his 202 average. Craft’s game of 255, was 63 pins over average of 192. A 170 average bowler, Perryman rolled 69 pins over for a 239. Bowlers 50 or more pins over their average include Mike Jett, 76 pins over his average for a 256. Steve Newell and Karen Lane were both 58 over their averages, with Newell getting a 230, and Lane topping out at 175. A 197 average bowler, Greg Miller, went 54 pins over average for a 251, and also picked up the 6-7 split.

Rule 11 – Forfeit - Delay of Game
No unreasonable delay in the progress of any game is permitted. If a player or team in a league or tournament refuses to proceed with a game after being directed to do so by a league or tournament official, the game or series shall be declared forfeited.
Rule 12 – Approaches Must Not Be Defaced
The application of any foreign substance on any part of the approach that detracts from the possibility of other players having normal conditions is prohibited. This includes, but is not limited to talcum powder, pumice and resin on shoes, and/or soft rubber soles or heels that rub off on the approach.
