West, Sirrat, and Woodworth All Shoot 300's Feb 12th, 2015

     Kevin West, Kyle Sirrat and Jason Woodworth all roll 300 games.

    The Danville Area Bowling Association says time is running out if you would like to be put on the ballot to be on the board of the Merged Association. They will take names until Friday (tomorrow). After that time a ballot will be made up and brought around to all leagues to vote. The new board will be in place March 1st with the new Association starting August 1. Contact David Winchester or Linda Chittick to be put on the ballot

      Kevin West shot his 40^th 300 game this past Sunday during the 3 person tourney held at Lincoln Lanes.  The top 5 teams were as follows: Had a GREAT turn out for the 3 man tournament. Congratulations to the following: 1st - Rick Scott, William Hopkins, and Tory Thompson / 2nd -Jerome Nelson Jr., Dan Clark and Jerome Nelson Sr. / 3rd - Brad Lankster, Dustin Dolbee and Greg Miller / 4th - Janet McMasters, Nicole Brown, and Jackie Varner / 5th - Kyle Sirratt, Kevin west and Byron Miller.

   The rest of the story, Sirrat rolled his 300 in the Mutual League. Woodworth shot his 300 in the Lutheran League at Lincoln Lanes. The same night his dad Paul Woodworth shot 11 in a row and a 740 series.

   The Men’s City Tournament recently concluded, and the results were: First Place, the Four Saltines and A Bean consisting of Ruben Villareal, Tyler West, Terry Lutz, Josh Troxtell, and Zech Connelly.  Second Place, EZ Lawncare, with Eric Zanders, Kyle Sirratt, Steve Skimehorn, Byron Miller, and Terrence Cloyd. Third place, Pavement Solutions, with Gary Oakes, Matt Simpson, Darren Van Duyn, Curt Vice, and Kevin Vehlewald. Also in the top four is the Four Righties & a Lefty.  Team consists of Ashley Nolan, Brad Lankster, Janet McMasters, Dillion Turner, and Terrence Cloyd.

    The Friday Night League at Sycamore Lanes in Covington, Jessica Barnes rolled a 205 which was 71 over Split conversions included Brooke Hughes 4-8-10, Judy Gebhart 3-6-7-10, Dawn Hughes 4-5-7, and Dale Benedict the 5-7.

     In Senior League action Ron Blagg bowled a 242 game which was 71 pins over his game average and a 623 series which was 110 pins over his series total.  Greg Miller shot a 626 series which was 107 pins over his series total.  Billy McDaniel bowled a 195 game which was 50 pins over his game average.  Terry Bell Jr. rolled a 280 game, 93 pins over his game average, and 686 series which was 125 pins over his series total.

    Splits:  Ida Petty 5-10, Ed Reed 5-6, and Meredith Stokes 2-7-10  

     Tuesday Nite Go Getter’s:  Maggie Birge rolled a 618 series, including games of 221 and 217. She was 126 pins over her series average, and 57 and 53 pins over respectively. Jon Castle 211, 59 over. Dustin Dolbee 242, 47 over, Fred Fultz 190, 56 over, Stan Harvey 247, 66 over, Houston Key 195, 41 over, Tuck Miller 177, 47 over, and Joe Pascal 177, 46 over. Split conversions: 5-6 Greg Miller, Rosemary Puzey 5-10 Sue Strong, Harl Miller 54-5-7 Maggie Birge, Jim Thomas 3-8, Irv Summers, 4-7-9 Houston Key, and 5-7 Dustin Dolbee.

       MS Nail Salon League: Sue Strong bowled a 211 for a 539 series. Sandy Cunningham bowled a 411 series. Pam Foehrer bowled a 162.

       Lot’s of action at Fast Lanes in Hoopeston. Jennifer Crawley led the ladies in city tournament action with games of 267, 267, and 199 for a 733, her 1^st 700 series.

Dusty Fields rolled a 262 while Brandon Hamilton's shot a 717 series followed up by Russell Reed’s 651 and Hank Longfellow’s 642. Sunday night mixed was led by Marvin Dobkin’s 256 game, 633 series and Doug Wagoner’s 634 set. Karen Porth led the ladies with a 217 game, 593 series while Patty Lowe had a 212.

     Fast Lanes this Saturday night at 7:00  is having a 7-8-9 pin doubles tournament. Winner's split $450.00.

Sirrat rolls 300, Cheeseman, a 299

      Congrats go out to Kyle Sirrat for not only rolling a 300 game, but also an 801 series.

      Youth member Trinity Dokey rolled a 195 in league action, 90 pins over. Congrats Trinity.

      While subbing in the Friday Night Mixed League in Danville, observed several high scores being shot on lanes around me. In no particular order we have Ruben Villarreal 253, Megan Connelly 224, Nicole Brown 224, David T. Winchester 242, Greg Miller 241, 232, Scottie Reinken 279 (11 strikes in a row), and 225, Stewart Mercer 264Danny Lazzell 256, Shawn Tietz 224, Jarvis Brown 247, and Donnie Cheeseman with a 299.

    The Friday Night League at Sycamore Lanes in Covington, Chad Edminston rolled a 206, with a 154 average, 52 over.  Tom Gebhart shot games of 196-249-160 for a 604 series, 78 over.  Jim Hensley had 193-232-181, for a 606 series with 67 over. Cody Jumps had a 212, 65 over.  Rose Schaeofeld 204, 61 over while Gary Willett had a 204, 61 over.

      Bill Shoaf picked up 3-7-10, Kevin Brannin 4-7-10, Pam Gossett 5-7, Kevin Barnes 4-7-10, and Ginger Gabbard 6-7-10 

     In Senior League action, Allen Taylor bowled a 209 which was 57 pins over his game average. Houston Key bowled a 210 55 over and Stan Harvey rolled a 245 which was 68 pins over his game average.  Ed Reed bowled a 234, 55 pins over, Jim Thomas shot a 237, 77 pins over, while Ron Blagg finished with a 265, 96 pins over and he bowled a 663 series which was 156 pins over his series total.

    Splits:  Martha Elliott;  4-5-7    Clarence Martin;  5-7   Jan Frank; 4-7-10  Darlene Edwards; 6-7-10

   The Tuesday Nite Go Getter’s Ray Rogers took top honors in this week’s Go Getter report with a 255 high game, 71 pins over average. Ron Blagg also did quite well. He shot games of 214, and 212, for a 498 series, 119 over series average. Other’s did really good as well. Darle Edwards 115, 63 over, Joe Elliott 171, 58 over, Jan Frank, 42 over with a 177, Gary Holycross shot a 227, 46 over, and Harlie Huckleby had a 169, 40 over.

     Split conversions: 4-5-7 Greg Miller, 4-5 a,d 3-7-10 Laura Baird, 5-10 Harl Miller, and the 4-5 Deb Miller. Jim Thomas converted the 5-6-10.

Jan 29th - O'Brian Rolls 300, Local Bowling Association To Move Into New Era

     Attention all members of the Danville area Men's and Women's bowling associations. As most of you know by now the men’s and women’s associations will be merging into one association at the end of this season. With this move they need to elect a new board. If you are interested in being on the ballot for either an executive officer position (president, Vice President) or as a director you can contact either David T Winchester or Linda Chittick with your intent to be put on the ballot by Friday Feb. 13th. Ballots will be brought around to all leagues the last week of February so that all members of both associations can vote. The new board will be in place Mar. 1. They hope to hear from new prospective and energetic members soon, as they move into a new era of bowling in the Danville Area!! 

    First off, Kevin O’Brian rolled a 300 game in the Mutual League this past Tuesday night.

  Hoopeston: Fast Lanes this week saw Michael Thompson set the pace on the Sunday night Mixed league with a 279 game followed by Allen Wilson's 246. Doug Wagoner shot a 644 series and the ladies were led by Karen Porth. She had a 232-598 set. The Wednesday night ladies were led by Kellie Thilmony with a 220-580 set. The Will Bruens league was led by Chad Bruens, shooting a 278 691 series. Duean Rasher followed with a 268 - 653 set and Porgy Anderson had a 265-664 set..

    Fast Lanes will hold it's monthly 7-8-9 pin doubles tournament on Feb 14 at 7:00. Winner's get $440.00 prize money.  A Valentines dinner will also be served.  

  Senior League: Gary Holycross shot a 235 game which was 60 pins over his game average.  Donna Berlin rolled a 181 game which was 51 pins over her game average, while Joe Stokes bowled a 213 game, 79 pins over his game average. and had a 505 series which was 103 pins over his series total. Split conversions included: Jack Ball 3-7, Billy McDaniel 4-5-7, 5-6  and the 5-10,   Jan Frank 5-10, Judy Gebhart 3-10 and the 5-10 , Teddy Carter 2-7, John Gebhart, the 3-10 twice,

Pam Jeffers 3-10, and Joe Elliott the 4-5.

    Covington’s Friday Night Mixed League: Jessica Barnes shot games of 123-198-159, for a series of 480. She was 66 over.  Ted Pearman rolled  games of 202-248 and 204 for a 654 being 74 over.  Ron Cates had games of 213-208-245 for a 666 series with 57 over. Split conversions: Marcy McQueen picked up the 5-10, Heath Threlkeld the 8-10, Edie Bray, the 6-7-10, and John Gebhart  knocked out the 6-8-10. 

    Go Getters: Ray Rogers was top bowler for the Go Getters, rolling a 242, 62 over. Greg Miller followed close by with games of 232, and 226. 55 and 49 pins over, respectively. He also rolled a 642 series. John Camarata shot a 220, 76 over and 199, 55 over. Steve Lamb shot a 207 game, 54 over, Bub Tiffin, 40 over, and Tuck Miller , 40 over for a 170.  Split conversions: 5-8 Bub Tiffin, 4-9 Maggie Birge, 5-10 Houston Key, 5-7 Dot Tiffin, and the 3-9-10, Tracy Smith.

   The MS Nail Salon League did not bowl this week due to inclement weather.

Jan 22nd - Lewis Shoots 290

    Last week, I described an event that had me scratching my head, and with the explanation given, it probably had you scratching yours.  Some how, I did not include ALL the rule.

    While watching a match on the PBA tournament 2 weeks ago, a right handed bowler left a few pins on the right side.  Then, something happened that I thought was against the rules. The right handed bowler rolled his next ball to convert the spare left handed.

     I sent an e-mail to the USBC inquiring about this, and received this reply:

Rule 328 - Changing Delivery

USBC Rule 328 applies to any USBC certified scratch tournament unless the rules state otherwise.

      In scratch tournament competition, a participant can bowl with either hand at any time unless the tournament rules state otherwise.

    In handicap and classified tournaments, the bowler must use the hand they started the tournament with at all times.

    The exception, tournament management may allow an individual to switch to the opposite hand due to injury.  However, permission must be requested and approved by tournament management.

  Joe Lewis shot a 290 game during Lutheran League competition last Thursday evening.  

  Hoopeston: This week is a big week as Fast Lanes is having a BOWL FOR THE CURE fundraiser Saturday evening starting at 6:30. There are spots remaining and then the great sounds of Taylor Wolfe and Flattville Road play from 9-1.

   Last week was led on the Will Bruen’s league by Brandon Hamilton's 260 and 714 series followed by Doug Bauer's 258-652 series. Sunday night was led by Doug Wagoner's 255 and 619series while  Marvin Dobkins shot a 246. Patty Lowe led the ladies with a 215, 597 series. Monday night saw Ginger Colvin lead with a 209.  

  Senior League: Donna Berlin bowled a 183 game which was 53 pins over her game average while

Terry Bell Jr. shot a 248 game which was 62 pins over his game average. Jim Thomas bowled a 222 game, 62 pins over, and Joe Stokes rolled a 202 game which was 69 pins over. 

Splits:  Sue Broderick 5-10,  Martha Elliott 4-7-10, Ed Reed 2-6-7,  Sue Strong 5-6, Dot McDaniel  4-5-7 and the 4-5, and Jim Thomas with the 5-7-9,  3-10 & 4-5-7.  Judy Arnett 5-7, Tuck Miller 5-7 and the 5-6 , while Bob Maxwell finished up with the 6-7-10. Shirley Miller 3-9-10, Darlene Edwards 4-5, and Barb Walls, the 3-10.

    Covington’s Friday Night Mixed League: Benji Brink rolled a 196, 60 over, Johnny Fielder, a 247, 57 over, and Ted Pearman, a 235 game, 63 pins over average.

Splits: Tom Gebhart, and Dale Bennedict with the 5-10, and Travis Edwards with the 2-10.

    Go Getters: Houston Key was high bowler for the Go Getters this week, rolling not only 72 pins over average for a 224, but also 149 pins over series average for a 605. Fred Fultz was also 72 pins over his game average with a 206. Gary Holycross shot 68 pins over average for a 248.  55 pins over, were Jordyn Castle with a 178, and John Mikel, a 204.  Susan Brookins rolled a 151, 49 over, while 45 over was the key for both Maggie Birge and Steve Lamb with a 203, and a 194 respectively. Greg Miller shot a 223, 46 above, Bub Tiffin, 40 over for a 189, Stan Harvey, also 40 over for a 222, and Joe Elliott, 42 over for a 154.

Splits: 5-10 Maggie Birge, and Charlie Tiffin, 5-9-7 Stan Harvey, 4-5 Gary Holycross, 2-7 Lisa Moudy, 3-9-10 Laura Baird, and the 3-6-7-10 Jordyn Castle.

   The MS Nail Salon League reports that Barb Dinsmore rolled a 162 to earn a 150 game award, and Marti Stanton bowled a 134. Ilse Durbin shot a 402 series for a 400 game patch, Connie Williams bowled a 200 game as part of a 524 series, while Frances Miller-Hauf bowled a 159 as part of a 407 series.

Jan 15th - 3 person Tourney Results Are In

     Lincoln Lanes hosted a 3 person team tournament this past Sunday and Dustin Dolbee rolled a 300, while Jackie Varner rolled a 719. Congratulations to the following: First- Misty Moore, Ruben Villarreal and Mathew Pate;  Second,  Nicole Brown Jackie Varner and Janet McMasters ; Third - Kyle Sirratt Byron Miller and Richie Covington; Fourth - Zech Connelly Josie Jeremy Wright and Steve Skimehorn; Fifth - Jason Woodworth Michael Jorgy and Brian Hensgen.

    The Danville Area Men's Bowling Assn City Tournament team event begins next Saturday the 17th at Bulan’s Bowl. Squad times are at 9am and 1pm. They will continue on Sunday the 18th at the same times. Registration forms are at all of the bowling centers. Entries will be taken up to a half an hour prior to squad times. Get your teams together and come have some fun.  

  Senior League: Michael Seward bowled a 227 game which was 50 pins over his game average, while Stan Harvey shot a 268 game, 91 pins. Splits: Ron Candido 4-10; Martha Elliott 5-7; Greg Miller 4-9 and Darlene Edwards the 9-10.

    Covington’s Friday Night Mixed League: Chad Edmiston rolling games of 190,141 and 256 with a 150 average, 106 over for a 587 series. Travis Edwards shot 265, 226, 201, for a 692 series. Johnny Fielder bowled games of 246, 203 and 214 for a 663 series, 62 over, and Katrina Edwards bowled 212-187-231, for a 632 series with a 184 average.

    Splits: Ron Cates and Rose Schaeffhold picking up the 3-6-7-10 split. Judy Gebhart 5-8-10and the 4-5-7, Jessica Barnes 5-7-9, Roger Gossett 6-7-10, Dale Bennedict 2-7, Bill Shoaf 2-7-8, and Keith Barnes 4-7-9, Edie Bray 4-9-10,  and Aaron Howard with both the 4-5 and 6-7-10.

     Go Getters: Gary Holycross had the most pins over average for the night with 50 over, hitting 224. Eddie King had a 184, 50 over. Fred Fultz was 46 over for a 179, while Kevin Powell rolled a 183, 42 pins above. Split pickups were 5-10, 2-7-8, Martha Elliott; 5-6, Bub Tiffin, Sue Strong, Melissa Castle and Jim Thomas, and the 2-8-9-10 by Joe Pascal.

   The MS Nail Salon League reports that Sherry Pickering bowled a 254 for a 502 series

       Friday Night Mixed: Terrence Cloyd shot a 299 game, and Kevin O'Brien shot a 246 (54 over). Kevin West rolled a 694 series and Jim Thomas shot 254 (60 over).  Ed Reed picked up the 5-8-10, while Steve Skimehorn picked up the 2-4-10.

In handicap and classified tournaments, once the bowler has taken his/her first shot, he/she shall continue to use that hand throughout the tournament unless, due to injury, the bowler finds it impossible to continue bowling with the same hand. The bowler may seek approval of the tournament director to continue with the opposite hand.

Penalty: Disqualification in the event in which the violation occurs and loss of entry fee for that event.

More Great Scores - Jan 8th

    So far, it looks as if this past week, was one of the best for this season.

Jon Castle of the Tuesday Nite Go Getter League, was 105 pins over average for a 253, and 147 pins over series average, for a 591, just 9 pins shy of his very first 600.  Stan Harvey had 2 good games, a 238, 58 over average, and a 229, 49 over. Harlie Huckleby was 48 over for a 176. Deb Miller had 54 over for a 166. Ray Rogers had a great 238 game, 56 over average, and 107 pins over series average, while Jim Thomas was 68 pins over average with a 223.  Charlie Tiffin ended the night with a 186, 40 over average. There were many split conversions: 2-7-8 Jon Castle; 307-10 Bill McDaniel;5-10 Russ Puzey; 5-8-10 Tuck Miller; 4-5-7 Ella Miller; 9-10 Joe Elliott and the 5-7, Harlie Huckleby.

      The MS Nail Salon League has been unable to report the past few weeks, so catching up just a bit. Week of Dec 23: Donna Rayhel bowled a 606 series, with games consisting of a 185, 222, and 199. Week of Dec 30: Sandy Cunningham shot a 423 series and Marti Stanton bowled a 135 game. Week of Jan 6: Pam Jeffers bowled 201 game in a 508 series. Diana Meyers bowled a 177 game for her 175 game award. And Rayhel rolled a 234 game.

   In the Thursday afternoon Senior League, Keith Carter bowled a 209 game which was 68 pins over his game average. Stan Harvey bowled a 246 game which was 71 pins over his game average, and he also had a 630 series which was 105 pins over his series total. Susan Brookins bowled a 157 game, 54 pins over her game average.

     Converting splits were Darlene Edwards and Harlie Huckleby, 5-7;  Laura Baird 3-4-7; Ron Blagg, 4-7-10; Ida Petty, 2-7-8; John Gebhart, 3-5-10 while Fred Fultz picked up the 2-10 and the 4-5.

      In the Monday Morning Ladies League in Westville, Laura Baird picked up the 5-6-10 split, While Alverta Maskel, rolled a 181, 50 pins over average.

     Over in Covington, the Friday night Mixed League reports that Beth Brannin had a 169, 57 over. Chad Edmiston  rolled a 203, 55 over while Darrell Edwards shot a 234, 52 over.  Roger Gossett bowled a 220, 64 over,  Cody Jumps 197, 52 over and Marcy McQueen 175, 55 over. Rose Schaeffhold 200, 60 over.  Kevin Brannin picked up the 4-7-10 while Brian Goodwin knocked out the 5-7.

   I did receive a few names from the Friday Night League here in Danville. Kevin West shot a 268, while Rich McFarland shot 216, 235 and 267 for a 713. Dorothy McFarland picked up the 3-6-7, 4-5-7 and 7-8 splits.

    Fast Lanes is hot on these cold days with Zac Puralwaski setting the pace with the front 9 and going on to a 279 game followed with a 673 series. Monday saw Jennifer Crawley  lead the way with a 255 game followed by Karen Porth 659 series.  

         Fast lanes is hosting a 7-8-9 pin doubles tournament this SATURDAY at 7:00. First place  is $350.00. On 1/24 there is a RELAY FOR LIFE fundraiser at 7:00 followed by Taylor Wolfe and Flattville Road band at 9:00.

New Year Begins - Jan 1

    May we be one of the 1^st to welcome you to 2015.  I am sure many of us have set some goals. My brother has set a goal to roll a 713 series, while one of mine is a bit more simple; to roll my very 1^st 600 series. I am sure one day it will come. We do hope you are able to reach your goals in bowling.  Need help in your bowling style?  Go down to any of the bowling centers and watch some of the high rollers and see how they do it.  I am sure many of them will be glad to give you some tips

   In the Thursday afternoon Senior Allen Taylor bowled a 224 game which was 71 pins over his game average.   Donna Berlin shot a 199 game which, 71 pins over her game average, while Billy McDaniel rolled a 216 game, 72 pins over his game average.  

     Split pick ups included Alva Gouty 4-5;  Ed Reed 6-7-10; Betty Lierman 4-5-7;  Marla Troyer 4-7-9; Ron Candido and John Ramsey with the 5-7; Teddy Carter 5-10; and Margo Johnson with both the 3-10, and 7-8.

      In the Monday Morning Ladies League in Westville, Marilyn Tuggle picked up the 5-7 split. While Alverta Maskel, rolled a 209, 79 pins over average.

   The Tuesday Nite Go Getters has Somer Weaver, the best bowler of the night rolling 64 pins over her average for a 165. Stan Harvey was 63 over for a 243. Eddie King was 57 over for a 192, while Charlie Tiffin was 51 over for a 196. Other action had Gary Holycross over his average by 45 for a 224. Also over average by 45, was Harlie Huckleby for a score of 171. Keith Carter was 42 over for a 181.

      Several split conversions were made, including Dawn Stewart. It was her first night of bowling with the Go Getters and she knocked out the 4-5-7. Other combinations were destroyed, like Charlie Tiffin 3-9-10; Maggie Birge 5-7; Dot McDaniel 2-8-7; Jim Thomas 3-10 and 3-6-7-10; Deb Miller 5-6-10; Di Summer 4-9; Tuck Miller 6-7-10, and the 5-10. Somer Weaver also converted the 5-10. Greg Miller knocked out the 5-7, while Martha Elliott made the 2-7-8 split vanish.

      Just a note to some of the new bowlers about bowling etiquette.  Before you actually step on the approach, please make sure the adjoining approaches are clear of other bowlers, as not to distract them.

    Please be ready to bowl when it is your turn. A suggestion would be is to know who you follow, and when you see them bowling, be standing near the pair of lanes. That way, when they are finished, you can have your turn.
