Attention Battle of the Stars invitees!!!  Want to win an easy $100?  Well, maybe not that easy. If you are the 1^st bowler to roll a 300 game, the money is yours. How’s that for incentive?

     The Battle of the Stars, a premier tournament, featuring some of the top bowlers in the Illiana area is getting ready to start up soon. Invitations have been sent out, and if you plan on joining this event, and have received an invitation, please return it as soon as possible. The registrations need to be submitted TODAY  at either Bulans or Lincoln Lanes. Times are Men, Squad 1 at 10am, and Squad 2 at 2:30pm, on March 9^th, at Bulans. On March 10^th at noon, a Women’s squad will be held, also at Bulans. Saturday March 16^th will be the final round for the men at 11am, and on Sunday, March 17^th the final women’s round will be at noon. Both of these final rounds will be at the Lincoln Lanes bowling center. One note to remember, this is NOT a handicap tourney. All scores are completely scratch.

    The City Senior Tournament is coming up fast as well. Dates will be Saturday, April 6^th, with 2 squads at Bulans, and on Sunday, 1 squad will bowl at Lincoln Lanes. I believe the 5 top bowlers will be involved in a step ladder finish. One thing to note, is this tourney is Handicap, so everyone has a chance.

    Just a reminder, this year’s Hall of Fame Recognition, is being held at Spanky’s Banquet Hall this coming Saturday nite. Unfortunately, no tickets will be sold at the door.

    Now get this!!!  15 year old Hunter Phelps, a 171 average bowler in the Youth League at Lincoln Lanes recently rolled a 172, 222, and a 298.  That’s right, 11 strikes in a row, then an 8 count, for a 298 game, and a 692 series.

     Let’s start with the Monday Nite No Tap League where we have J.R. Scruggs rolling games of 300, and 277 for a series of 828. Finas Glenn topped out with a 695 series. The following no tappers bowled 50 or more pins over their average: Joe Davis 251 (197), Finas Glenn 244 (193), Pam Jones 217 (162), and Shaina Lane 145 (90). In the split department, Jimmy Scruggs knocked out the 5-7, Nancy Goodner, the 5-6, and Larry Craft blew apart the 3-6-8-10 split.

    Going out west to Bulan’s, and the Monday Nite Mixed League, Kevin Bennett rolled a 177, 50 pins over his 127 average.  A few miles south in Westville, Judy Mariage picked up the 5-7, and Alicia Rouse knocked out both the 5-7, and the 6-7-10.

    This past Tuesday morning the Lincoln Lane’s MS Nail Salon reported that Sally Reed, a 118 average bowler, bowled a 174, 155, and 164 for a 493 series, Ilse Durbin a 409, and Sherri Pickering a 507. Sue Strong knocked out the 3-7-10 split.

     Charlie Tiffin had the lanes warmed up again at Lincoln Lanes for the Go Getters. He rolled a 226 game, 78 pins over his 148 average, and a 568 series, 124 pins over his series average. Martha Elliott bowled 50 pins over her average for a 191. The following splits were converted: Joe Davis 5-7, and Houston Key, the 4-6, and the 5-10.

   The Thursday afternoon Senior League had Marion Johnson rolling a 219 game, 87 pins over average, Gerald Arnett was 50 pins over his average with a 201, and Terry Bell, was 65 over with a 258. The following bowlers converted splits: Houston Key, and Fred Fultz, the 5-7, Judy Arnett, and Donna Berlin, the 5-10, Bill McDaniel, the 3-10, Sue Strong, the 4-5-7, Pam Jeffers, the6-7-10, and Raymond Berlin, the 5-7-9.

   The Friday evening Mixed League had Darrell Edwards bowling a 245 game with 179 average for 66 pins over.  He also had a 672 series with games of 200-227-245.  Tom Gebhart bowled a 225 with a 175 average for 50 over, and Christina Cheeseman bowled a 157 with a 105 average for 52 over. Judy Gebhart picked up the 6-7-10, Dale Benedict picked up the 5-7 and Rose picked up the 5-8-10.

      Coming back over the state line from Covington, we visited the Friday Nite Mixed League, and once again, the scores are fantastic. Leading the way, were several men who bowled over 250, they were: Joe Lewis 258, Terrence Cloyd 255 with a 716 series, Jim Thomas 277 with a 681 series , Rich McFarland 268, also with a 681 series, and Evan Davis with a 266. Only one woman had games over 225, and that was Nicole Brown with scores of 231, 234, and 225 for a total series of 690.  Other Friday nite bowlers 50 or more pins over average were: Bud Taylor 245 (194), Joe Lewis 258 (207), Ruben Villareal 237 (187), Rachel Pendleton 151 (101), Amanda Noel 166 (110), Karen Rice 203 (138), Kevin Jackson 193 (135), Matthew Pate 230 (165), Joy Wasson 200 (145), Bill Phillips 243 (186), and Shawn Steele 223 (169).

The Battle of the Stars, a premier tournament, featuring some of the top bowlers in the Illiana area is getting ready to start up soon. Notice I said top bowlers, obviously, that will exclude me, however, I can guarantee you will see Rich McFarland, and David Winchester, and many others participating. Squad times are Men Squad 1 at 10am, and Squad 2 at 2:30pm, at Bulans. On March 30^th at noon, a Women’s squad will be held at Bulans. Saturday March 16^th will be the final round for the men at 11am, and on Sunday, March 17^th the final women’s round will be at noon. Both of these final rounds will be at the Lincoln Lanes bowling center. One note to remember, this is NOT a handicap tourney. All scores are completely scratch.

    Last week, I told you of the new Hall of Fame inductees. Just a reminder that there are banquet tickets available for this year’s Hall of Fame Recognition, being held at Spanky’s Banquet Hall. Tickets are $17, and are available from any DABA or DWBA board member.

    We have some great scores to pass on, starting off with the Monday Nite No-Tap League, consisting of teams from area Churches. Sharon Craft had a 652 series, which included a 244, 51 pins over her 193 average. Other bowlers 50 or more pins over average were Ella Ellis, with a 242 (153), and Jim Switzer with a 176 (122).

    Going out west to Bulan’s, and the Monday Nite Mixed League, we have both Todd Goodner and Matthew Pate turning in some good scores, by both being 50 or more pins over their average. Goodner threw a 227 (166), while Pate topped out with a 248 (171).

    This past Tuesday morning the Lincoln Lane’s MS Nail Salon reported that Cheryl Callison rolled a 201, Judy Mentzer knocked out a 212, and Pam Jeffers picked up the 5-7 split.

     The Tuesday Nite Go Getters had the following had Joe Blagg with a 220 (170) and a 615 series, while Maggie Birge rolled a 211 (147).

   The Thursday afternoon Senior League had Stan Harvey picking up a 277, 91 games over his average, and Raymond Berlin shot 52 pins over average and 108 pins over his series total for a 192 game, and a 528 series. Sue Strong picked up the 5-10, while Dot McDaniel picked the 4-5-7.

   The Friday evening Mixed League had Dale Benedict rolling a 232, 55 pins over average, while Beth Barnes rolled a 165, 188, and another 188 for a 541 series. She has a 140 average. 145 average bowler Lindy Henkelman rolled a 213, 190, and a 155, for a 558 series. The 213 was 63 pins over her average.

Jessica Barnes picked up the 3-10 split, Tom Gebhart picked up the 2-10, and Rose picked up the 2-7-10 split. 

   Coming back over the state line from Covington, we visited the Friday Nite Mixed League, and once again, the scores are fantastic. Leading the way, were several men who bowled over 250, they were: Joe Cox with a 251, Rich McFarland, 279, Jim Thomas 256, and Wayne Brown Sr., 269. For the women, we have Teresa Cloyd getting a 254, Brandi Welsch 238,  and Nicole Brown with both a 225, and a 266, and a 647 series. Terrence Cloyd rolled a 696 series, and Rich McFarland had an even 700.

     Other Friday nite bowlers 50 or more pins over average were: Donte Baxter 231 (158), and Shawn Tietz 234 (183).

     As you know, I like to go over some of the rules from time to time, especially when it comes to fouls.  What happens if the foul lights are not working? Would my 300 game count if they weren’t. Here’s what the rules say:

5c. Foul Detection

A USBC approved automatic foul detecting device must be used, if available. When not available or temporarily inoperative, the following procedures shall be used to call fouls:

1.  In tournament play, management shall assign a foul judge or have the official scorers call fouls.

2.  In league play, the opposing team captains shall call fouls or a foul judge shall be appointed.

Failure to provide for the calling of fouls as specified shall disqualify scores bowled for USBC High

Score Award consideration.

     So, if the foul lights are NOT working at your center, make sure the team captains are watching and calling fouls, or an appointed foul judge, when they occur. If not, that 300 game you might just have bowled, may not count.

2013 Hall of Fame Inductees Announced

The Danville Bowling Association has just released their 2013 Entrants to the Bowling Hall of Fame. They are: Achievement, Michael Seward, Service Bobby White, and Senior Sam Edwards. They will be inducted into the Hall on Saturday March 2nd at Spankys banquet hall. Tickets for the banquet can be purchased from any DABA or DWBA board members.

     Looking at the reports I have received this week, looks as if we have some great scores to report to you. Also a couple of tournaments have released their final standings. However, saying this, if you want to make sure your results get the publications that it deserves, please send me an e-mail to illinabowling@gmail.com.  If you just post it on Facebook, I may, or may not see it.

    Speaking of tournaments, I have received 2 reports via e-mail.

    First, the recent city tournament results: The Triple X Pro Shop, consisting of Kyle Sirratt, Bobby Fauver, Jason Turner, Jerrad Reed and Darren Van Duyn all put together a great group of scores to win first place in the team event. For Doubles, we had Michael Seward and Don Miller, who combined, totaled a 1427. Jason Turner was the top scorer in both singles and all events with a 763 series.

    No tap tournament results at Bulan's from this past Saturday nite were  1^st,  Ashley Martin and Kevin West, and a two way tie for 2^nd and 3^rd consisting of Danielle and Scott Lewallen and Robin and Jerry Sims.

    Speaking of No Tap, we have a double report from the Monday Nite No Tap League. Tops honors this week go out to Cal Richards, who rolled not 1, but 2 300 games. That’s right, back to back perfect games. Richards’ normal game average is a 193, so he was 107 pins over for each of those games for a total series of 766. Also rolling 300 games were Joe Davis and Robbie Ketcherside. Ketcherside had series of 747, and 684. Davis had a 743 series. Terry Jones was able to sneak in there with a 722. On the women’s side, Sharon Craft rolled a 666 series, while Sue Strong was slightly higher with a 675. The following bowlers were 50 or more pins over average: Davis 300 (197), Mike Jett 245, and 274 (183), Jimmy Scruggs 264 (203), Ella Miller 209 (151), Karen Lane 165 (115), Ketcherside 300 (212), John Nixon 242 (162), and Albert Syass 234 (212). Syass was able to horizontally slide the 8 pin over to the right, to take out the 10, while Nixon did about the same with 5-7.  Nancy Goodner however, blasted apart the 5-8-10.

  The Bulan’s Monday Nite Mixed League is reporting that Dave Watts rolled a 186 (128), 50 or more over his average. In the Monday Morning Ladies League from Westville, Harriet Romoser, knocked out the 5-6-10.

     On Tuesdays, we have the MS Nail Salon League, in the mornings at Lincoln Lanes. Sharon Craft rolled a 204, while they had several splitters, and even some who actually picked them up. They were Sue Strong, who picked up both the 5-7 and 6-7-10 splits. Shirley Gibson converted the 5-10, while Betty Rowley was able to make the 4-5-7-10, completely disappear. The Tuesday Nite Go Getters’ Tracy Smith topped his 157 average by 87 pins to garner a 244 game, while Kevin Powell was 71 pins over his game average of 140 to get a 211. Split conversions for the nite were Houston Key with a 5-7, and Sue Strong with a 3-6-7-10.

     The Thursday afternoon Senior League is telling us that Stan Harvey rolled a 258, 80 pjns over average, with a 648 series, which is 114 over his normal series. Bob Maxwell had a 203 game, 59 pins over, and Joe Elliott rolled a 183, 55 pins over. In the split conversion department, we had Marla Troyer and Charlie Graul picking up the 5-10, Terry Bell the 5-7, Harlie Huckleby, the 6-7, and Clarence Martin, the 5-7-9.

     Covington’s Friday Nite League has issued the following: Chad Edmiston with a 216, 91 pins over his 125 average. Ron Cates rolled 236-172, and a 253 for a 661 average. Cates has a 189 average. 91 average bowler Jennifer Winters topped her score by 55 to get a 146.

    The final report for today is the Friday Nite Mixed league at Lincoln Lanes. The following men had scores over 250: Jeremy Wright 267, Shawn Tiets 278, Wayne Brown Sr. 257, Josh Troxtell 254 and 268, Joe Cox 262, Jarvis Brown 278, Ty Harmeson 254, Rich McFarland 279, Jim Thomas 267, and Danny Lazzell 268. Megan Connelly had a 241, and Nicole Brown had games of 254, and 238 for the women’s 225 and above category. Men over 675 are Wright 683, Tietz 696, David Henderson with a 677, Jarvis Brown a 736, McFarland 680, Thomas 726 and Bud Taylor with a 675. Nicole Brown ended with a 690 series. The following had games 50 or more pins over: Wright with 267, and 235 (183), Tietz 278 and 234 (181), Connelly 241 (179), Wayne Brown 257 (194), Troxtell 254 and 268 197, Butch Sanders 237 (159), Joe Cox 262 (190), JR Hawkins 222 (158), Josh Maynor 278 (180), Jarvis Brown 278 (203), McFarland 279 (217) 11 strikes in a row, Thomas 267 (202), Tietz 234 (181), and Lazzell 268 (191).

Good morning everyone!! Hope you have had a great week of bowling. There are only a few reports this week for some reason. I have heard that many people were down with the flu. If this describes you, it is our wish that you get well as quickly as possible.

     I have some good news for you, as well as some bad news. Now, you know that happens… Let’s start with the sad news, or I should say, unhappy news.  A friend we have had for the past 6 years, has stepped down in her position as director for the state senior tournament.  I confirmed this with Sandy Darnstaedt this last week, and she said she has done it for the past 6 years, and it was time for someone else to take it over. Now, the good news. Now, she will have some time to actually bowl in the tournament, so maybe she will bowl on the same dates that we do. We wish her all the best.

     Also, the location for the Senior tournament next fall has been announced. It will be in Joliet this year at Strike and Spare II Lanes.

   Now, back to the local tournament scene. Here are the results of the Hoopeston City Tournament. The Ladies Team event went to Cade’s Heating & Air with a score of 2696 and second was Olympic Hardware with 2594. Team members were Tammy Bertram, Leona York, Sharron Potter and Sandy Mullen.  Doubles were won by the team of Jennifer Crawley and Karen Porth with a 1328 over a tie between Patty Lowe & Linda VanBurke 1295 & Rita Rethelford & Laurie Coon. Singles went to Sandy Mullen with a 717 over Patty Lowe, 682 and Laurie Wisdom 680. All events winner was Laurie Wisdom with a 2081. On the men’s side team winners were NAPA with a score of 2776 over Ferdinand Construction's 2699. Team members were George Fix, Bob Hamilton, Brandon Hamilton and Tony Gress. Doubles winners were George Fix & Tony Gress 1456 over Hank Longfellow & Doug Wagoner 1420. Singles winners were Mike Dean, 705 over Johnny Linder, 703, Bob Hamilton 698 & Doug Goble 687. All events winner was Tony Gress with 2133. All events scratch was Brandon Hamilton with a 2019 with a 224 average.

      Let’s get into the local league reports starting off with the Monday Nite Bulan’s Mixed league. It has been reported that Greg Miller rolled a 223, 51 pins over his normal average of 171. Kevin Bennett picked up the 5-7-9 split.

      On the Tuesday Nite Go-Getters, to say that Charlie Tiffgin was hot, would probably be an understatement!! He was steaming. Charlie’s average is a 144. He rolled a 201 his 1^st game, dropped to a 178 his 2^nd, and came back with a vengeance with a 240. He had a 619 series, which was 187 pins above his series average. Other high rollers for the Go Getters were Russ Puzey with a 207, 72 pins over average, Jan Frank, with a 189, 50 pins over, and Kevin Powell, rolling a 205, 66 pins over his average. Some good split conversions for the league consisted of Irv Summers getting the 5-7, while Tracy Smith and Ella Miller using the other half of the lane, knocking out the 5-10. Susan Brookings split apart even further, the 4-5-7.

    The Monday Morning Ladies league in Westville reports that Mary Seilhymer also exploded the 4-5-7.

    In the Thursday Senior League, we had Stan Harvey with a 247 game, 70 pins over his game average. Also 70 pins over was Joe Blagg with a 244. Blagg threw a 661 series for 119 pins over his series average. Michelle Williams rolled 60 pins over average with a 175. Gerald Arnett, Bill McDaniel and Marion Johnson all converted the 5-7. Martha Elliott lassoed the 6-7-10, Joe Elliott corralled the other half of the lane with the 4-6-7, and Ernie Harvey picked up the 4-7-9.

     I am thinking there are still some who are not quite up on the rules of bowling, and I am talking about foul.  I have heard some incidents where people are saying after they rolled the ball down the lane, they touched the adjoining wall next to the lane. That is NOT a foul.  Imagine the foul line right before the lane starts. Continue the lane up the wall.  Anything BEHIND the foul line is not a foul.  Also, some of the underlane ball returns have a portion of it protruding between 2 lanes. About an inch or 2 is behind the foul line. If a bowler’s foot happens to touch the part that is behind the foul line, it is not a foul. Hope this has helped clear it up just a bit.

   4 PERFECT games in one week. If you remember, last week we reported that Kevin West had recently rolled his 32^nd perfect game. Well, 3 days after that, on Tuesday nite, January 22^nd, he rolled his 33^rd. Derrick Hufford continues to knock ‘em out by rolling his 6^th perfect game at Lincoln Lanes last Thursday evening. Also bowling a perfect game was Terry Jones in the Monday Nite No-Tappers. Most impressive however was Scottie Reinken bowling his 4th 300 game, at Sycamore Lanes in Covington during the Friday Nite league. He actually rolled 20 strikes in a row. Games were 240-300-258with a 228 average. His total series was 798. I told one of these 3 guys, they need to teach me how to do this. He said, “you just throw the ball down the lane.” Somehow, I figure there is really more to it than that.

     Sunday will be the last day left in the city tournament’s singles and double’s events. Squads at 10am and 1pm. Contact Doug Oakes, the tournament director at 217-304-4735 for more information and reservations. Don’t worry, you won’t miss the Big Game or the half time commercials. It airs at 5:30 central time.

    Attention No Tappers!!  There will be a Couple’s No Tap Tourney on February 9^th at 7:30pm at Bulans.             Price is $30 per couple.

       We already mentioned that Jones knocked out a 300 game for the Monday Nite Church No Tap league which was included in an 846 series. Sue Strong rolled a 241, which helped her achieve a 693 series. Other No Tappers 50 or more pins over average were Jimmy Scruggs with a 266 game, Joe Davis with a 244, Mike Jett, a 242, Karen Hoskins had a 230, and Richard Morgan topped out with a 212. Morgan also picked up the 5-10 split, while Finas Glenn carefully slid the 6 pin over to help knock out the 6-7-10.

       In the Monday Morning Ladies League in Westville, Judy Mariage picked up the 2-7-8 and Jo Anne Brooks lassoed the 3-9-10.

        Tuesdays are a really busy day for leagues in the Danville area. At Lincoln Lanes on Tuesday morning, the MS Nail Salon League reports that Donna Rayhel bowled a 207 for a 586 series. Sue Strong bowled 214 for a 530 series and picked up a 5 - 10 split, while Connie Krabbe and Roma Buese were bowling a 179 game each.   Gloria Pfeifer bowled a 158.

      Also on Tuesday, slow action last week with the Go Getters, as we have only Bub Tiffin picking up the 5-10 split. This actually took place on Jan 22^nd, but I will have some high scores next week, guaranteed.

           The Thursday afternoon Senior League reports that John Gebhart rolled a 224, 53 pins over average, while Bill McDaniel shot a 200 game, 52 over. Ernie Harvey exploded by rolling 69 pins over with a 247 game. In the split category, Margo Johnson knocked apart the 4-8-10, while Houston Key and Jack Taylor split apart the 5-7. Fred Fultz and Allen.Taylor both pick up the 5-10. Linda Engle snuck between the 4-5 pins, while Dot McDaniel did the same, but on the other side, the 5-6.

    One more report from the Friday Evening Mixed League was that Lindy Henkelman bowled a 224 with a 143 average for 81 pins over.

    We have a good sized report for the Friday Nite League at Lincoln Lanes, where Rob Pendleton rolled a 257, 72 pins over average while Terrence Cloyd rolled the same score. Rich McFarland shot a 258 and a 711 series, Jim Thomas a 262, and Jerrad Reed a 279, which helped him obtain a 724 series. Michelle McMasters knocked out a 246. Other high rollers bowling 50 or more pins over average are: Randy Rickgauer 245 (185), Victoria Smith 143 (93), Tashia Spillman 224 (154) Matthew Pate 233 (163), and Josie Wright with a 171 (121).

   The numbers are 32 and 3. 32 perfect games in his personal bowling career, and 3 of them while bowling in the Danville City Tournament, as recent as this past Sunday at Danville’s Bulan Bowl. Congratulations go to Kevin West, not only for his recent perfection, but also a 766 series which included of course the 300, but also games of 229 and 237.

     Speaking of the city tournament, there are still 2 weeks left. Both doubles and singles will be held this Sunday, and on Super Sunday, Feb 3^rd.  There are 2 squads each day at 10 and 1, and you can contact Doug Oakes, the tournament director at 217-304-4735 for more information and reservations.

Other high rollers that shot 50 or more pins over this week were Leean Palmer with a 224 (147), Albert Syass with a 233 (169) and Steve Newell 227 (172). 3 great split conversions were made with Larry Craft picking up the 7-9, Steve Newell knocked out the 5-10, while John Nixon corralled the 8-10.

       In the Monday Morning Ladies League in Westville, Laure Baird picked up the 6-7 and Judy Mariage lassoed the 2-7-8.

        Out at Bulan’s for the Monday Nite Mixed League, Wes Watkins rolled a 199, 64 pins over his average of 135.

      Tuesdays are a really busy day for leagues in the Danville area. At Lincoln Lanes on Tuesday morning, the MS Nail Salon League reports that Donna Rayhel picked up a 4-10 split, while Dorothy Hesler bowled a 224 and Sue Strong bowled a 211 to finish with a 585 series.

      Also on Tuesday, the Go Getter’s Charlie Tiffin rolled a 201, 57 pins over average. Lisa Moudy and Tracy Smith both converted the 5-7, while Mac McDaniel went the other way and knocked out the 5-10.

      The TLC League at Bulan’s had Bill Drake rolling a 208 with a 144 average. Charlie Forshier had a 254. Jerry Kinney knocked out a 237 while carrying a 179 average. 151 average bowler Jeremy Shumate knocked out a 211 game, as Don Coan garnered a 211 game. Leslie Miller exploded the 2-7-10 split.

      The Thursday afternoon Senior League reports that Senior League newcomer Harley Huckelby bowled a 169, 52 pins over average. Ernie Harvey topped out with a 237, 64 pins over, and Sue Strong was 73 pins over average with a 233. Greg Miller picked up the 6-7, Allen Taylor, the 5-10, and Charlie Graul, the 4-7-9.

      Taking a trip east to Sycamore Lanes a couple of weeks ago, we visited the Friday Evening Mixed League, and chatted with several of the bowlers. Some great scores were reported.  Bowlers bowling 50 or more pins over average were Kevin Barnes 207 (155), Chad Edmiston 182 (124),  Missy Storckman 222 (128), and Scottie Reinken 268 (212). Reinken’s 268 was included with a 248, and a 257 for a 733 series. Thanks goes to Blake Norwell, pin technician, for giving me a behind the scenes tour of the pin mechanics.

    We have a good sized report for the Friday Nite League at Lincoln Lanes, in fact 2 week’s worth. On 1/11/13, we had 2 men roll games over 250. Rich McFarland with a 279, and Joe Cox with a 256.McFarland had a 687 series. On 1/17/13 McFarland had a 257 game with a 717 series. Terrence Cloyd rolled a 268 with a 729 series. Danny Lazzell shot a 258 to help attain a 693 series. Joe Lewis bowled a 277 and a 706 series. Jim Thomas rolled a 259, David Henderson a 266, and Josh Troxtell a 256. Other bowlers, 50 or more pins over average: Larry Richards Sr. 248 (165), Wayne Brown Sr. 243 (193), Rick Bland 236 (154), Demond Watson 199 (140), Tashia Spillman 208 (151), and 212 (152),Rob Pendelton 236 (184), Jay Davis 232 (154), Carl Robertson 204 (154), and Bud Taylor 248 (196).

       What is the dumbest question asked in bowling?  The answer….at the end of the column.

Triple X Pro Shop is currently leading in an ongoing tournament at Bulans Bowl with a 3250. Another week remains in the team event on Sunday with squads at 10am and again at 1pm. You can contact Doug Oakes, the tournament director at 217-304-4735.

       The next two weekends are for doubles and singles, and reservations are now being taken.

       Top honors this week go to Brandon Hamilton from Hoopeston and the Fast Lanes Center. Hamilton rolled a 300 game as well as an 804 series. He was heard to say “it’s bad when I have more 800 scores than 300 games.”  If you want to know the truth, I will take either one.  Other high rollers from the Hoopeston area include Porgy Anderson, a 299, Chad Bruens with a 297, and Marvin Dobkins with a 290 game. The ladies did great as well, as Jennifer Crawley rolled both a 268 and a 265 for a 674 series, alas, only to be outdone by Karen Porth’s 685 series which included a 268 game.

       Robbie Ketcherside had a 678 series for the Monday Nite No Tap League at Lincoln Lanes, while U Pete Wiliams had a 257, 77 pins over average. Nancy Goodner topped at 214, 52 over her 214 normal, and Albert Syass, a 169 average bowler rolled a 219.

      In the MS Nail Salon League, Sharon Craft rolled a 202, and Donna Reyhel was right behind her with a 201. Cheryl Callison rolled a 209 and a 516 series, while Dorthy Hesler topped out at aq 207 with a 545 series. Sue Strong rolled a 575 series which included a 204 game.

        The Tuesday Nite Go Getters reports that Derek Darr rolled a 223, 87 pins over his 136 average, which helped him attain a 530 series. His series average is 408. Melissa Castle rolled a 178, 51 over, while Maggie Birge was 101 over her series average for a 543.  Ella Miller picked up both the 7-9, and the 5-7. Russ Puzey and Jan Frank picked up the 5-10, while Dot McDaniel roped the 3-10. Sherry Castongue corralled the 4-7-10.

        In the Monday Morning Ladies League at Westville Laura Baird knocked out the 6-7.

        The Senior League at Lincoln Lanes tells us that John Gebhart rolled a 242 game, 73 pins over average, while Terry Bell shot a 247, 52 pins over his game average. Clarence Martin bowled a 182, which is 5o pins over his average.  Allen Taylor, Greg Miller and Sue Broderick both picked up the 4-10, and Marla Troyer knocked out the 5-10. Jack Ball corralled the 4-5-7.

        The Friday Nite Evening League at Sycamore Lanes has Dale Benedict rolling a 235, which was 58 pins over his 177 average. Ted Pearman rolled games of 202-226- and 176 for 606 series. His 226 was 54 pins over average. Jon Dunavan shot games of 203-197 and 200 for an even 600 series.
